Calls dropping
needs info

When engaged in a two-person call, (if you can even start the call, most times the mike button and or the phone button in the im window are greyed out, requires multiple refreshes to make it work) once you have gotten the call to work, after 5 to 10 minutes the call drops, and you receive the multiple .

This occurs no matter what region you are in.
Further, when you have more than two people in a call, at least one is kicked from the call and is unable to get voice to work. this is in calls of 3 or more. This is becoming very frustrating.
Also, when teleporting in call of two or more, the call is dropped for all parties. and you get the repeated message as above.
Can we go back to the old voice system? it was cranky but it worked better than this new one.
This involves both Linden viewer and Firestorm viewers.

I start a Call with Tee Cramer, she accepts and we begin to talk, after about 5 minutes the call abruptly ends, neither of us end the call. I click the phone button on the call and the "[2026/05/12 15:13:04] Second Life: Tee Cramer started a voice call" starts over and over. We both close that call and attempt to start a new call, and the repeat of "[2026/05/12 15:13:04] Second Life: Tee Cramer started a voice call" starts again. If we both relog and once back in we can start a new call, but then the same thing occurs after a few minutes.
If we make a call of 3 people, only two can actually get voice to work and talk, the third person is never able to use the phone button as it is greyed out. even after refreshing voice in both circumstances same problem.

Karas Quandry: Thanks for those details about 'about second life' output. Both of those viewer versions are up to date enough to avoid the most egregious known viewer bugs with WebRTC. Firestorm 7.2.4 (80703) in particular should be up to date with the feature set in the 26.2 SL viewer:
The 2026-03-04.22660319648 server your test region is in would be affected by the bug that causes calls to be dropped on region crossing or TP. But it should be able to maintain a call stably if the users are not moving to new regions during the call.
Right now I'm having trouble reproducing the surprise p2p call disconnect. I had 2 users (both on Second Life Release 26.1.1.23806384790) visit Realm of OA and start a p2p call, which was active for an hour before I gave up and ended it. After ending the call, I had one of the users call again, and got a single incoming call notice on the other viewer, which connected properly after accepting.
I also tried the 3-way ad hoc issue you mentioned, with no success. Is the 3rd person who with the greyed-out 'Open Voice Connection' button able to send text messages into the ad hoc chat? Also, are they otherwise able to engage in voice chat, such as in spatial chat in the region?
Since I can't reproduce this on my end, I think we need viewer logs in order to investigate both issues further. For the p2p call disconnect issue, we probably need both the logs of both viewers in the call. For the '3rd person cannot join ad hoc call' issue, I think just getting that affected user's viewer log should suffice.
To send us logs, please reproduce the issue, note the time of the problem, log out, and then zip up your viewer logs folder. This page tells you where to find the logs folder: https://community.secondlife.com/knowledgebase/english/how-to-report-a-bug-r224/
Next, email the zip file to bug-attachments@lindenlab.com and reference the issue name in the email subject line along with the time of the issue (so that we know where to look in the logs).
Leave a comment on this canny issue once that's done so we can take a look at the logs.

Hi Karas Quandry, I have a few questions for you:
- Please paste your 'About Second Life' or 'About Firestorm' text. There are multiple viewer and server bugs which have been fixed in recent weeks. Older viewers such as Firestorm 7.2.3 have several known issues related to voice, which have been fixed in newer versions. Hecklezz's comment in this issue as a good summary of known issues in FS 7.2.3: https://secondlife.canny.io/server-bugs/p/voice-issues-with-the-new-voice-servers We need this environment information for bothusers involved in the call, since either end could be at fault.
- For the first issue you describe, can you go into step-by-step details so that we understand what the two users are doing, exactly?
We do have a known issue that can trigger an "X started a voice call" loop, which looks something like this. It's not clear of you're doing the same thing:
- UserA: start a p2p call with UserB
- UserB: click to answer the call
- UserA, UserB: confirm that the p2p call is working
- UserA or UserB: click the phone icon to disconnect the call, then immediatelyclick it again to reconnect
- UserA and UserB: observe that the call gets into a rapid loop of "Your call has ended" / "N started a voice call" notifications trigger
> Further, when you have more than two people in a call, at least one is kicked from the call and is unable to get voice to work. this is in calls of 3 or more. This is becoming very frustrating.
This issue is described here, and is fixed in the https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/simulator/2026-05-12.25766421211.html server build that's currently in RC:

Addational information, prior to the Tuesday that all of the old Voice systems went off and the new ones went on, this problem never occured. all this started that next day.

Hi Maestro wanted to let you know that for the most part using the new Beta firestorm we have not had a problem with calls since both of us are using the beta. In the past week we have only had one call drop while in TP, and only once incident of the call dropping and having the repeat message. but once a relog was done, that was fixed.
