Proliferation of Demo Items
RedVelvetClub Resident
I just tried to search for an item and I clicked to not show Demo items. I worked my way through 20 pages and every item in those 20 pages was a Demo item. My solution would be to not allow Demos on Marketplace. Any good clothing item should have a Demo and that should just be an option when purchasing instead of having a separate ad for the Demos. In a lot off ways it makes Marketplace totally useless. I gave up looking for the item I was searching for after having to go through all those 20 pages and I'm sure most other people give up too.

Nope; I do some special things with demos (as do some others). For example, if an outfit has multiple pieces, the Demo may have a different color of each piece so the customer gets more information. (If there are items for multiple bodies i'll mix the colors up even more.) The Demo might have something they can keep and use (like a BoM layer) and I want to explain that on the Demo page. I would not be able to explain anything if "Demo" was just a checkbox on the Item page.
What DOES need to happen is that "No Demos" filter needs to WORK. But I have pretty good luck setting a minimum price to something like 10L when I search.

I'd support demo's being linked to the product listings rather than being separate listings (flagged as demos, or in this case, not).
Something like :
[Add To Cart]
[Add as Gift]
[Buy Now]
[Try Demo]
This could either add the demo to your cart, OR send it to you immediately, possibly while still keeping the product page open.

At first I was against "Not allow Demos on Marketplace" but I think its the phrasing. I don't think you're trying to remove Demos entirely from MP, but change how they are obtained... Having them not appear in search and instead have a demo selectable to obtain when looking at the product page. The reporting may need to be improved too since there are way too many "Demo" or "Gift" items for prices other than 0L.

Not a fix but a workaround. I usually set minimum price to L$2 when searching to truly filter out the demos.

Tinker PixelsYes, but then you will miss the legitimateL$0 and L$1 freebies.

Another option would be to allow a boolean search. Being able to type a -demo in the search box would get rid of 95% of the problem.

Or an option that for us creators when we list on mp, a check box, that´s a demo and then the ¨do not show demo¨ in search worked as intended

RedVelvetClub Resident That's exactly how you do this. A + sign is an AND conditional, a - sign is a NOT conditional. A term with neither is an OR conditional.
But that only filters out the listings with the word "Demo" in them someplace, not an actual 'demo' flag (which the exclude checkbox is supposed to filter out).
