No On-Screen Keyboard on Android Tablet
Jim Crisp
Because the functionality of the mobile app is so limited (No access to inventory, no ability to interact with scripts, etc.), I decided to try using web.secondlife.com on my Android tablet. It seemed to work well, and, of course, had much more functionality. The one thing lacking for making it actually useful was the ability to enter text. Would that be hard to add? It seems to me that uniformly other web-based apps have had the OSK available when accessed with my tablet or phone. They, or the device, seemed to know that I had no physical keyboad and that, therefore, the OSK was needed.

I mentioned this a year ago and was told to use the mobile app. However although the mobile app has improved, there is still no access to inventory or an ability to interact with scripts generated by dance pads, furniture etc which is a definite negative point. The abilty to enter text on an android tablet in the web version would be a plus point and would encourage others to join sl.

AylaNightdancer Resident, if what LL wants is to get more mobile device users using SL, they would be well-advised to make it possible by as many means as possible, and not to be telling users who want to use web app on a tablet to use a mobile app that still is far from ready for prime time.
