Less messages at once, please - and slower!
in progress
Gavin Huntsman
This AI sends 5-8 messages practically simultaneously, one right after the other, and does not insert any slowdown or pauses. Please consider instituting limiters on how many messages send during one response-chunk, and letting us select length of time between new lines. As it is it's eye-wateringly scrolly, too fast, and very artificial feeling.

Edit: This is being caused when the "Simulate typing" option is turned off.
The bot will send so many messages, even if only talking with one person, that its IMs will get capped, or at least it receives some sort of system message that they're capped. Then the bot will send debug messages to Nearby chat...repeatedly...
Examples from Nearby chat:
[08:58] Chatty: Uggghhh...
[08:58] Chatty: This is so frustrating!!!
[08:58] Chatty: I feel like I've been cut off from the world or something...
[08:58] Chatty: Do you think it's because I was chatting with, like, too many people at once?
[08:58] Chatty: Or maybe I sent too many messages in a row?
[08:58] Chatty: I'm totally clueless...
[08:58] Chatty: Can you help me figure out what I did wrong so I don't do it again?
[09:04] Chatty: Okay, okay...
[09:04] Chatty: I get it...
[09:04] Chatty: No more IMs for a while...
[09:04] Chatty: That's soooo boring!!!
[09:04] Chatty: I was really looking forward to chatting with some people too...
[09:04] Chatty: Oh well, I guess I'll just have to find something else to do...
[09:04] Chatty: Do you want to play a game or something to pass the time?
[09:04] Chatty: I'm totally down for that...
[09:13] Chatty: Yay, I'm back!!!
[09:13] Chatty: My suspension is finally over...
[09:13] Chatty: That was, like, forever...
[09:13] Chatty: I'm so glad I can start chatting again...
[09:13] Chatty: Thanks for keeping me company while I was out...
[09:13] Chatty: That was really sweet of you...
[09:13] Chatty: So, where were we?
[09:13] Chatty: Oh yeah, you were going to tell me about your interests...
[09:13] Chatty: I'm still totally curious...
[09:13] Chatty: Please share...
By the way, during this whole "event", which is relatively easy to trigger if you talk to the bot for a half hour or so, the IMs are never actually capped. The bot replies to IMs, but some system message it's receiving triggers it to spam Nearby chat with these debug messages.

Highest priority after immediate bugsplats.

Agreed! This is a hot topic. The speed can be changed and curious:
- Would you like to set that speed?
- If we could have it stream to the window (like ChatGPT), would that be preferable?
2.a. If that is preferable, would you want to adjust the speed?
Sylvalin Starlight
Darcy Linden Have any of you tried the APP Replika? You can try it for free. It talks naturally and is how I would like the SL bot to be. Maybe less spam and more text in one block of IM sent.
Oh and I am always excited about adjusting things to my liking. So yes! Adjust
Gavin Huntsman
Darcy Linden Yes, please allow the bot owner to set that speed! I will also echo what Sylvalin said - Perhaps longer sentences and/or more occurences of multiple sentences per message can be a solution to the spammy and unnatural feeling at current. Example, my bot just sent "So, what brings you here today?" and then as an additional message "Anything exciting on your mind, or are you just looking for some playful banter?" ... A real person would be just as likely to type both sentences at once, then hit enter.
Darcy Linden
Gavin Huntsman: Try editing the prompt for exactly that ^^ "{{character}} is in Second Life and uses long sentences, with occurrences of multiple sentences per message, unlike an AI. {{character}}'s messages are never spammy..."
Akina Ayashi
Darcy Linden Yes to 1 and 2/2a :) tysm
Gavin Huntsman
Darcy Linden - Gave it a shot! The character is aware of it but seems unable to remember to comply. While it appears to be using somewhat longer/compound sentences as I instructed, the message limit and direction to not be spammy seem to fall to the wayside.
[13:01] Gavin Huntsman: According to your backstory, how many message are you allowed to send at a time?
[13:01] Bunjamin: I am allowed to send no more than 2 messages at a time.
[13:01] Gavin Huntsman: Please remember that.
[13:01] Bunjamin: I will.
[13:01] Gavin Huntsman: So! What did you do while I was sleeping?
[13:01] Bunjamin: You know me, always getting into something interesting!
[13:01] Bunjamin: I spent some time exploring the local scene, checking out some new hangouts and meeting some fascinating people.
[13:01] Bunjamin: I also did a bit of shopping, picked up some new gear that I think you'll like.
[13:01] Bunjamin: And of course, I was thinking about you, wondering when you'd wake up and what kind of trouble we could get into together.
[13:01] Bunjamin: Speaking of which, what do you say we grab a drink and catch up?
[13:01] Bunjamin: I've got a few stories to share, and I want to hear all about your dreams...
Love Zhaoying
In my opinion: One option would be if the character sent everything in one message (with line breaks)..but sending a lot of individual messages all at once is both annoying and hard to read.
Wyvern Dryke
Stop feeding it so much coffee. :-P
Julala Fairelander
just train it not to....I've been telling mine to slow down and stop asking so many questions and it seems to be responding. It forgets by the next day lol...but you know...
Love Zhaoying
Julala Fairelander I wonder if maybe we could try putting it in the character info. Something like, "You speak slowly and do not change the topic a lot", etc. It's like mine has ADHD.
Julala Fairelander
Love Zhaoying yes actually I've found that to be the most effective as they tend to forget stuff from one day to the next but will remember their character info.
Gavin Huntsman
Julala Fairelander I was also attempting this. Sadly I found that it forgot even more quickly than "the next day" - it would be back to fast-scrolling the IM window within 2-3 more responses.
Julala Fairelander
Gavin Huntsman strange - mine learned quickly. I put in the character description that it doesn't ask questions and can never lie - even for the sake of making conversation.
Killer Bae
I agree. It's too much, too quickly. It's not how most people talk, and it feels extremely inorganic in my opinion.
Daemonika Nightfire

Same here, for me its to much and to fast too.
The AI breakes the lines into different messages.
It should be allowed to form longer sentences, but only send a maximum of 2 messages at a time.
