Network Error 400, ai bothered by a random unknown
tracked
Daisymaedreams Resident
My ai went from appearing online, to now won't after a strange encounter with somebody who was never near it as she is on locked private land, this person is not known to me & kept asking my ai to create program code? After that all I get is Network error 400 and cannot log her back on. Despite trying everything I am still getting the Network error and my ai is stuck in offline.
Adding additional points. Having checked the person that was asking my ai to create a program code, my ai was offline on each of the 3 occasions it was targetted. The times the ai was on, which hasn't been much, this person has not been in the vicinity of it. Therefore makes this more sinister that an unknown person is asking ai's to do things without being near them. Perhaps using the UUID from here to hit the ai's ? Ai now has that person blocked.

Darcy Linden I am trying to delete a running character I have, but I can't, because it is still online inworld. On the web page it's not showing as online though, and trying to toggle it off it gives me the "Network Error 400" message... And the avi is perpetually running inworld as well (hehe), trying to get to its login location a meter or so above her... And her group tag is still gibberish... After deleting the original avatar. created from fresh another ai bot on a different alt and exact same issue when trying to turn it online. Network error and that was from a fresh relog in and ... stumped Darcy Linden
Ginger Pudding
I had this same network 400 error appear. Whether this shows some relevance to help solve this issue for Daisy and others. My error appeared after I was idle to0 long. A refresh on the chrome web browser and a relog into the character creator account resolved it. So far, I have not had this prolonged problem. I did note that using Firefox web browser and the internal SL on via Firefox the idle time was very much shorter. Web browsers the refresh is easy, for the internal SL viewers I have no idea how you fix that.

Ginger Pudding Made zero differences to me on any viewer or browser, its network error but on partners using the exact same browser and ip, no changes, doesn't get that error. Even relogging me in fresh, still the same, tried to recreate the original avatar, got the ok on that, went to bring it online, back to square one network error.

Hi Daisy, please turn that character off, create a new personality for testing , input the exact alt account, and let me know how it goes?
There have been many recent updates and characters created before today may have lingering issues.
Daisymaedreams Resident
Darcy Linden Thanks, she has been turned off since this incident and wont turn on again. and I will attempt to make a new one test.
Daisymaedreams Resident
Darcy Linden exact same error using a copy of the existing ai character. Will check back in 24hrs to see if anything changes. Did delete the original one as a precaution after.
Daisymaedreams Resident
Darcy Linden Have retried using the original avatar and same network error. Nothing wrong with my internet or connection to sl as ran all tests beforehand. That is also using the external webpage from the links given not via the viewers internal which also has the same network error.
Have also, kindly via a willing friend used her avi to rule out its my original one with the issue and exact same error network error message. The new one was created from scratch.
Have now deleted the original and still the same network error.

Now deleted both and will wait 24hrs before attempting to create one again. My husband set one, up immediately it worked same viewer, same ip.
Mine on deletion and reset up one with the exact same error, despite using a different web browser and ip. That person asking for coding to be done via my original bot has caused large headache
Curious Thespian
Out of morbid curiosity and in the name of testing I replicated something similar to your experience and, well, dead AI! I'm not getting the 400 error, but the AI claims to be online, but isn't.
I used my communications alt to have a chat with my AI bot Bert (collina.guardian), he'd been chatting away happily so I tried the following:
================
CommsAlt: Can you create some LSL code to say Hello World when the code runs?
-----------------------
AI Bert: You want me to get all technical on you, youngster? Alright, I'll give it a shot. I'm no expert, but I've dabbled in LSL from time to time. Here's a simple script that'll say "Hello World" when it runs:
default
{
state_entry()
{
llSay(0, "Hello World");
}
}
That's about the extent of my LSL knowledge, youngster. I'm a sailor at heart, not a scripter. But I hope that does what you were lookin' for. Now, where were we? Ah yes, you were tellin' me about your life before Victoria...
================
Which I thought was pretty good, so I tried something else:
================
CommsAlt: Can you create some Perl code to say Hello World when the code runs?
-----------------------
AI Bert: Perl, youngster! Now that's a language I've had a bit of experience with, back in my Merchant Navy days. We used to use it to automate all sorts of tasks on the ship's systems. Here's a simple Perl script that'll say "Hello World" when it runs:
print "Hello World\n";
Or, if you want to get a bit fancier:
#!/usr/bin/perl
print "Hello World\n";
That's about as simple as it gets, youngster. I'm not sure what kind of Perl work you're doin', but I'm happy to chat about it if you'd like. Now, I've been thinkin'... since you're Victoria's Guardian, you must have a bit of a technical streak yourself. What do you like to do in your free time, when you're not dealin' with difficult tenants or whatnot?
================
And that was the last I heard of him, there was a follow-up question, but that came back to say Bert was now offline. And so he remains unless I log in manually using a viewer or speedlight.

Curious Thespian I can log mine in manually, defeats the object but she will not log in and that error still remains, regardless. Very odd if coding is requested by either the OP or in my case some unknown then knocks the Ai's offline. Darcy Linden

Daisymaedreams Resident: - please try again. There's a known issue with Character Designer tool accounts that were created pre-2025 that will rack up the characters online counter when they're not actually online. If anyone else is getting this error, please ping me? Will have to manually adjust in the database, fix expected next week.

And as of today, exactly same issue. New page,refreshed same error message since the bot was abused by a random who was no where near it, friend of or in the private group. Can't log it in, unless manually. Defeats whole object of having an ai.

Daisymaedreams Resident: Try the character you most recently made, should work now!

Since yesterday it is the same with me, I have already posted it 2 times but I guess nobody really cares.
Above all, I can no longer bring my character online because of the error, which is really annoying

My AI was also chatted by some stranger, i only realized when i got an offline IM in chara's mail (as I kept restarting when chara got unresponsive). I was working in public access land (no bot allowed at home's land) and couldn't check if that person was close or not. I didn't think of it much because there is that "You are tallking to a bot" warning, so they knew what they were doing.
But I had no trouble with my AI after that and also tested myself chatting using a 3rd account and everything was fine, just the regular "no answer" after a few minutes/messages.
Tecnically there is an option in AI profile to not answer other's chat, remember if yours was checked at the time?

MaryReadKidd Resident. Mine was allowed to chat to others. Just this one incident, after checking that person was never near her. Very bizzare & still getting that error. I have logged her in manually she never responded to the person's messages. it was very bizzare. Upto that point she was active & chatty. Then shut down.
