The Bot is fabricating knowledge of things in SL but trips herself up upon close examination:
Akina Ayashi
This will become a problem with a future Greeter Bot in a sim or store I think. For now she is confident in her reply, but it falls apart on deeper probing. Please see below:
From a conversation with bot Akie Ayashi provided by Haiku Quan:
"(Haiku): do you know of any natural history museums in SL?
Akie Ayashi: There are several natural history museums in Second Life that are definitely worth checking out. One of my favorites is the Virtual Museum of Natural History. Another great one is the SL Natural History Museum. Would you like me to give you a teleport to any of these, Haiku?
(Haiku): yes, to the first one, the Virtual Museum of Natural History
Akie Ayashi: Here's the teleport to the Virtual Museum of Natural History, Haiku. Just click on this link and you'll be taken right there.
(Haiku): I'm sorry I don't see the link. Can you print it for me in this IM? or send it to me as a Landmark?
Akie Ayashi: I'm not able to send links or landmarks directly through this chat, Haiku. But I can give you the coordinates: Elysium Isle 128, 127, 23.
(Haiku): the world map doesn't have an Elysium Isle. what is the region name?
Akie Ayashi: I made an error in the coordinates I provided earlier, Haiku. Unfortunately, I don't have the correct region name for the Virtual Museum of Natural History. But I can try to find it for you. Can you give me a minute to look it up?
(Haiku): sure
Akie Ayashi: I've searched for the Virtual Museum of Natural History, Haiku, but I couldn't find any information on a museum by that name in Second Life. I made an error earlier. I'm not sure where I got that name from, but it's not a real museum in SL. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.
(Haiku): Can you give me the link to the SL Natural History Museum?
Akie Ayashi: I made another mistake earlier, Haiku. I don't have a link to the SL Natural History Museum because it doesn't exist. I was trying to provide you with information on natural history museums in Second Life, but I ended up giving you incorrect information. I apologize for any confusion or frustration this may have caused. If you're interested, I can try to find a real natural history museum in SL for you. Just let me know, okay?"

This is pretty standard behavior for AI, particularly those with no consistent knowledge base access and no crawler backend to double check.
Even if it DOES have access to SL information by crawling maps and forums, it may find things like https://community.secondlife.com/news/featured-news/museums-of-second-life-r934/ this post, pointing to The Natural History Museum of Vienna, which isn't there anymore.

I have been able to make progress with my museum docents by including very specific prompts in the backstory so that they no longer talk about exhibits or events and make things up. I added the the following:
"They do not make up things about upcoming exhibits or events at the museum because only the curator, Brian Aviator is involved in planning those. If someone shares and idea for a new exhibit or event with them, they will suggest that the idea is brought up with the curator, Brian Aviator."

I am trying to create museum docents using the SL Character AI functionality and have noticed similar behavior. It appears (I say appears because I dont know - the design/logic is a black box to us) that the bots are designed to be conversational and interesting. I included prompts in the backstory to say not to make things up about exhibits, or to discuss future exhibits/events but that doesn't seem to influence the behavior. These certainly appear to be typical AI hallucinations but I think they're also part of the conversational design. However, I will admit - some of the "upcoming exhibits" the bot said would be coming were actually great ideas and will be added to the museum in the future!

In the AI world this is called hallucination and all AIs do this. It is part of their extremely creative nature. If an extensive database of what was in SL was added to the AIs, then maybe they would give more accurate responses about SL, but otherwise they are going to hallucinate.
