New limited offers: keep in mind that the residents are from all around the world, make it fair

I'd like to request that when LL release new Linden Homes, or things like the shops, or new names, that LL keep in mind that not everyone can be around for the moment of release. We're from around the world, some will be at work when these releases happen, some will be asleep, and what-have-you.
It would be more fair, in the case of the shops that you submit your name in some fashion before a deadline. Then random people that put in their name and qualify (Premium Plus subscribers in this case) gets assigned a random store upon the release date. This only applies to the release dates though, if you like to abandon your place and try get another, that should be possible afterwards through a different mechanism.
The same idea above should work for new Linden Homes as well. A bit like a lottery.
With new surnames, you should be able to buy a ticket for a certain name or name(s), and the same principle as above should apply. If several people have picked the same name, a random person gets it on the release date. It would be good if you could buy a ticket for several names at once, either to put in a bid for them all, or in priority order if you don't get your first pick.
Do we have other releases that needs to be made more fair?
I didn't know where else to put this, so feel free to move this.

Other games/platforms have a roulette-style application period. Eg. "This parcel's registration period will be in April 24-27th." At the end of that period, a random person will be chosen for the plot and they can come claim it within a few days. If the parcel doesn't get claimed, it goes back into the registration period pool.
A similar system would be good for keeping the initial land grab fair. Everyone has time to register, and an equal chance of getting the plot. The owner could then abandon/sell the land as normal.

Stores - release times
Jamee Sandalwood
I am really hoping in the future that the release time of new stores available in the shopping districts will be varied to give those of us who are not inworld during the 9am - 5pm SLT time frame during the week an opportunity to get a shop. So far that has not been the case.

THIS is NOT fair. I was at a Commercial Store property just now, when the person who owned it abandoned it. I had been waiting there all week. After it was abandoned, someone showed up that had not been there any time I was there. I did not know how long it would be before it became available. However, I was continually watching the DEED and refreshing it and it was not long before the person who arrived had purchased the building. NO AVAILABLE SIGN... NO LINDEN representative showed up. NOTHING. And the deed never did say it was for sale. HOW does this happen?

Hello Nyx! We appreciate your concerns regarding when we release a new product, particularly one with very limited availability. We are closely monitoring this new program's performance and effectiveness.
We are planning to release additional regions in this program periodically, and understand that demand may frequently be higher than available supply. We apologize for any inconvenience you may be facing due to the limited availability of these parcels.
We understand that this new program has experienced some technical difficulties, which may have hampered parcel availability and the opening of the commercial regions. This is a very new venture for us, and some bugs are to be expected.
Additionally, we will communicate when changes to Linden Home Commercial areas may be applied to any issues that arise.
Please continue to provide your feedback about Linden Home Commercial properties. As this is a new program, we absolutely do want your feedback, so that we may improve.

Oatmeal Linden I unfortunately feel that you missed my point here. The thing is that if you open the gates to something new at a specific time, only the people able to race to that certain limited supply at that very time of day (or night, as it might be for them), can actually take part in the race for that limited supply. It doesn't matter if it's the 'shops' as it was this time, a new name coming out, Linden Homes, or what-have-you. Please do consider the international nature of the community we have in Second Life, and create a solution so that all interested people can have an equal chance.

Oatmeal Linden I agree with the idea of 'fair' practices in SL By the time I got the notice of the Bellarisa Commercial properties they were all rented. Then I realized there were 22 sims of Commercial properties that I was not aware of. Another issue with 'fair' is that there is a list of RULES for the Commercial Properties and if the rules are being broken I think Linden Labs should take the property back and offer it to someone else. There are several properties in the Commercial sims that have nothing to sell or are empty that are beyond the 7 days the rules say that they should have their business open. One was claimed March 17, and one March 30, and others April 1 and 2. If rules are not enforced, then it is not fair to those who follow the rules.
Nyx Onyx
NicoleHeather Resident LL doesn't have a patroling police force inworld, enforcing rules is dependent on reports. You can file an abuse report, or a support ticket if you believe someone is breaking rules. That said.... I do think it's a bit unfair to only give people 7 days to set up a shop... first impressions are important, and I don't think it's entirely fair to be forced to rush it. The seven day rule is fine if there are more shops available than there is interest in them, and so you can wait with getting a shop space until you got your things ready. A middle way here could be that you show intent to set up a shop, for example that there are signs of you setting up the shop, that there is activity on your part, that it's not just left as an empty spot.

Nyx Onyx LL does have a compliant officer that checks those stores on a daily basis as I have followed her and spoken with her. I am not sure who she reports her findings to, or what their power is. At least she is out there Monday through Friday checking for empty stores and checking to see if the merchandise and rules are being kept. She gives the same answers as any onther LL person would give. It is first come first serve and maybe later there will be more shops open. I have not been able to find out if LL can actually make a store available that is not following the rules or if they contact the person in default, or what takes place. I just know there is an LL person checking for rule compliance.
Nyx Onyx
NicoleHeather Resident Well, if they do that, then good - though I can't believe they will continue doing that on a daily basis as it is expanded, or there will be other things they are not doing that they ought to do. There are only so many of LL's staff, after all, and only so much time in the work day.
NicoleHeather Resident
Nyx Onyx They are doing it now. This is from the profile of the officer who has been on checks daily Monday through Friday. I did not see them over the weekend, but they could have been there as I was not as active. PROFILE STATED: "Linden Lab representative (LDPW) LH expansion decoration/forum mod/covenant enforcement!"
NicoleHeather Resident
The only problem with that: I have not seen any enforcement. :)

Ticket for surnames I don't personally feel is necessary, the system is reasonably fair for that. As is a reminder that other Countries, not just US, also use and support , via paying memberships, etc in SL.
Releasing homes and themes that also draw in and support the non US is a valid. Staggering releases across the differing timezones would help.
As is a ticket for shops. Currently it's more akin to a sale riot atmosphere with campers fighting over both the shops and Copperfields. Very feral. Ticket idea is a great one.
Any LL release should be announced first via official channels, for those not in a certain group. Makes sense.
Nyx Onyx
Pepsi Pixels Announcing so that everyone knows - great. But... that's not helping if it's at 3 AM at night, ahead of a work day in RL, that the gates open. There needs to be an equal chance for everyone in the international community.
Pepsi Pixels
Nyx Onyx I totally agree Nyx here. While Linden HQ is lUS based and there is no way of getting away from that fact. Hence probably the releases are to their time. There are a populace that are outside the US, or even working different times.
It would be lovely if those outside the US time could be included in releases ensuring a fairer system, beyond a doubt.
Unless, I have zero idea how the lab works so I'm going to assume unless corrected there are only US based Linden employees who do the releases, utilises workers from differing time zones, there won't be any changes made & the non US will be left unrequited & unsupported.
Unfair yes, but can a viable solution be found, unsure?
Nyx Onyx
Pepsi Pixels If they can't automate the releases a few at a time over the 24 hour day and night, then they can instead do random lottery tickets. Once the sim opens, the released items / plots / something-else are already assigned, no racing, and nobody at the lab, or among the residents, have to be up at the wee hours.

Agreed. It would even be nice if there were mainland sales all within a region meant for creator shops, not free but a designated shopping area. But yeah I didn't even get the notification from the blog that it was back up and everything was gone within about 15 minutes roughly.
Rockridge Constantine
Violaine Villota Unfortunately, LL decided to announce it in the Bellisseria Group before it was even announced on the blog which may be part of the reason most of the shops were already gone. So I am guessing it was more of a perk for that group to announce it there first. :(
Garnet Psaltery
Rockridge Constantine Oh, that's a shame. :o( I'm not in the group though I did try it. As far as I recall it was too busy and US-centred for me.
Pepsi Pixels
Garnet Psaltery sadly it is little to US orientated. Nothing wrong with that unless you write C not F in temperature or spell colour, not colour, then it can get a shade feisty.
Pepsi Pixels
Rockridge Constantine I don't think it was a group perk, I hope not as that is unfair, and it so not official linden/mole run one. I admit it often seems odd things are known well before the blog or even official linden groups. Then again it has been running a very long time the know how's are probably know where to source information on such as a result. There are a lot of moles & Lindens in it, which probably where things are mentioned and missed by those not in or actively following it.
Rockridge Constantine
Pepsi Pixels My point was not that this was any "official" perk, but more of an unfair preference or practice to announce in the Bellessaria Group before the blog post. In all fairness, and because SL residents are global, timing of any announcement will be difficult.
Dana Enyo
I'm completely with the idea of 1) Announce upcoming release of shops/parcels, 2) Allow interested people to submit an application, 3) At the announced time, draw the names and contact the winners.
FOLLOW THIS UP (and I hope this is happening now) with a check that those shops/parcels are being used for the intended purpose.
Finally: I'm NOT suggesting that these offers extend only to residents of Bellissaria. I've been there only rarely; my reason for applying for a shop would be to make that connection and find out more first-hand about that community.
