2025.03 Viewer shows dark pbr objects (macbook M4 Pro)

I like to adjust my graphics based on low-mid, then adjusting. So I did just that, and i noticed that objects are too dark. If i play with some setting, let's say turning reflection coverage off back to manual, it goes back to normal .. until i walk away for 30 seconds and come back in the are. then it's dark again.
note: it does happen with hdr & emissive on or off, so it's not related to that.
note 2: I tested on my nvidia laptop on windows, the problem doesn't occur, however with this 2025.03 beta build, i do have big stutters / frametime inconsistency. I mention this in case this still would be related.

I tested the latest build from GH, and with that new "max reflection probes" selector, it seems fine.

Thanks for testing that out, observeur!
This Canny report will be closed for now but if the issue does reappear, feel free to add further comments to this ticket.

Matheo Finchfield Thank you Matheo but this is different here. It was due to the max reflection probes option, that disappeared since then.

Couple of questions for you:
- Any particular reason for using those specific graphics settings? On my system, it defaults to High-Ultra which works acceptably performance-wise with only minor tweaks, and your machine should work even better.
- What is your system specification? Particularly, how much memory?
- Does this happen with only PBR texturing, traditional Blinn-Phong texturing, or both?
I've set up a graphics preset roughly equivalent to yours (eyeballing some of the sliders where there's no numeric value), but it would help if I know what to test again.

Spiffy Voxel Hello Spiffy. First of all, i think i can say the issue was occurring when the max reflection probes was set to a lower value. When i pushed this back to 256 it was fine. Naively i thought that because the whole building had only 1 big reflection probe, then lowering the value down to 16 or 24 would be a safe choice, but not.
Second thing : I tested the later build available here -> https://github.com/secondlife/viewer/releases/tag/Second_Life_Release%230ec9bfaa-2025.03 and they actually removed the max reflection probes option (for now?).
I did notice 2 things with this later version, it's that apparently it's acting like the option was set to "none" while it shows "manual", visually speaking.. until i change some other settings (meaning the reflection probe wasn't active for somer reason)
Second thing i noticed is, if i set reflection coverage to "Manual + Terrain" I get higher AND more consistent framerate than "Manual only". There must something going on with "Manual Only".
And last but not least, i would be happy to share with you why i am using optimised settings in my viewer, adn sharing experience with our macs, but we might do this inworld ;)
