Block list empties
Hex Witch
upon initial log in after installing the block list is fine
block list is empty upon a new log in
every log in after that the block list remains empty even after adding avatars to the block list again
after clearing cache block list comes back but empties once relogging and letting inventory load completely
also happens on the latest firestorm release
edit: cannot update to add photo of empty block list

Update 2 - Well, for now it seems a manual clear cache on every single log out will be a temp fix, but I really hope a solution can be found without having to resort to that as my new normal.

Hi Tangwystyl Gwynneville,
Does this issue reproduce for you on the official SL viewer?

Atlas Linden Oops I missed this earlier. There is no cached_mute file in my secondlife folder either. I am very unfamiliar with that platform so I did not try adding someone to block list to see if one would generate. That generated one for firestorm, but once renamed, I do not get a new cached_mute file. It seems I am not getting the cached_mute from server for either platform.

Does your block list happen to be close to or exceed the 1000 limit?
Tangwystyl Gwynneville
Atlas Linden Hi Atlas, no I only have 391 in there. I am able to get everything working fine by doing a manual clear cache before every log in. So I'm just doing that for now.

Update.. I messaged Hex Witch to see if she got things sorted, she hadn't tried yet. In the meantime she suggested I add someone to block. So I did, a random person at a sandbox. The blocked name did show up in my empty block list. This allowed me to see a cached_mute file finally. I logged out, renamed that file to .backup and relogged in and out and then back in.. Still totally empty block list. The .backup file has stayed, but no new cached_mute file.

I am also having the same issue since installing newest Firestorm. This is causing group chats to not open automatically for me. I can not find (in secondlife or firestorm folders, see below) the cached_mute , apparently only the file named 05ca3df6-0222-4817-a558-00ad905ac33f.inv.llsd.gz which I was told is inventory cache. I was also told if that file is not showing for me then the server isn't sending it to me. I will also note that firestorm support had me install SL viewer, tho I had no idea where to even find groups to continue support, the group DID open automatically. So I assume block list populated on that platform, but that cached_mute file is also not in Secondlife folder. I have re white listed everything. Currently the only "fix" seems to be logging in enough times until block list populates. This is now 4 hours straight of trying to fix this issue. Not to mention the time spent on re logging for the past 2 weeks. Help!

Hi Hex Witch,
Can you see if the following resolves your issue?
- Log in and see if the Block List is populated.
- If it is not populated, log out.
- Rename the block list file. It will be in this folder: C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\SecondLife\ and named your userID dot cached_mute. It will likely be the most recent dot cached_mute file. (Eg. 3de548e1-57be-cfea-2b78-83ae3ad95998.cached_mute)
Please rename that file's extension from .cached_mute to .backup
- Log in, then log out. This should download a fresh copy of your blocklist.
- Log in again.
- Check to see if the block list is now populated and let us know.

This seems to have resolved the issue on the official viewer for me. I was sent here from Firestorm support and I still have the issue on Firestorm viewer so its half fixed for me. Thank you.
Atlas Linden
Thanks for letting us know this fixed your issue!
Please let us know if this reoccurs upon switching back to the official viewer.
As for the issue on Firestorm, I can suggest to look for a .cached_mute file in the respective Local/Firestorm folder and attempt to repeat the above steps.

Atlas Linden I have tried that, if I rename the cached_mute file, if I can actually get one to generate in the folder by adding a random person to my empty block list, the .backup file stays, but no new cached_mute file is received from the server upon relog, and back to empty block list. I specified my steps in previous posts. The empty block list is preventing group chats from automatically opening for me.
