Consistent Shape Corruption Issues

I have a ton of details, screenshots and debug logs on ticket 2411959 (happy to share whatever is needed), but in brief - any shape, any creator, even just starting from scratch - 4 out of 5 times, when I edit and save, the resulting shape "cannot be found in inventory". This has been happening consistently for months. It is occurring in both Windows and Linux environments, and I have tried in both Firestorm (my default viewer) and the Second Life viewer.
This isn't on a small scale - I edit nearly every single shape, and often about 3 different ways - so it's a debilitating issue, particularly as my "workable" process has been to delete the shape, then empty trash, clear inventory cache and then relog - and then it's a minimum of half an hour before I can do ANYTHING while it rebuilds my inventory - having this happen is a challenge since I can end up having to do this over and over when the subsequent shape edits corrupt as well - I've had it happen 8 times in one day.
I'd be really grateful for any help - I opened a ticket months ago, but unfortunately no solution was found, and it was suggested I try here to see if I can find a solution.
- I've tried disabling both VPN and antivirus (no effect)
- rebooting modem
- tried both wifi and direct connections
- tried both Windows and Linus
- tried both the SL viewer and Firestorm

In Firestorm, you might export your shape using Developer -> Avatar -> Character Tests -> Appearance to XML. You're able to import it afterwards in Editing Shape.
Social Hijinks
This! But also the issue where you go to save your tweaks on a shape aaaaand it doesn't save. At all. Even if you "Save As" and rename it, somehow the shape name saves but none of the scale numbers. So between fighting with corrupted shapes and non-saving scales, it's becoming tedious lol And I work on my own looks almost daily.

Social Hijinks Yes! That happens to me as well - so bad it got to the point where I just change one value, save as new,put on the old one, then the new one and THEN I can edit.... and keep fingers crossed that it "takes".

this has been happening to me, too. i have tried your process, as well as a clean install of firestorm. haven't tried other viewers. i've also tried resetting to default avatar before clearing cache & inventory cache, then putting an outfit with the affected shape back on as suggested by others who've had the issue but it hasn't worked. this seems different. it has been happening increasingly more often. sorry i don't have any suggestions, but just want to add my experience so hopefully someone can help!

Hi Evora.
I was looking at old issues similar to this and one trigger was found to be a software package "Iolo System Mechanic Pro". Do you happen to use that?
Evora Laurent
Dan Linden Hi! Nope -I'm using Linux 99% of the time, and that is windows software.

Dan Linden Given that it takes them half an hour to rebuild inventory after clearing cache, might this not be a connection quality issue?
Evora Laurent could you perhaps try a low bandwidth setting in your viewer, maybe as low as 500 to see if it makes a difference?
Evora Laurent
Nyx Onyx - thanks for the tip - I did set it to 500, but it seems to have made things worse - every single alpha I put on corrupts across my whole inventory (like if I use a copy, every copy & the original is toast). Since changing this setting, it's happened consistently for every single alpha I've put on. SO now it's not just bodies lol! As for the time the inventory takes to load - that could be a size factor? I don't know how big most people's inventories are or if mine is on the larger size, which might contribute to the delay?

Evora Laurent As regards inventory it's often said to keep it organized in folders, not having a "flat" inventory with large folders.
Did you try changing graphics driver version? Updating or rolling back to an older version? I might have missed it if you already said that.
Did you try with an alt account?
