Default followcam no longer 'bumps' on nearby walls when 'Disable Camera Constraints' is enabled
Bambi Bubbles
Observed Behavior:
Standing near a wall, and turning, can allow the follow camera to phase through the wall.

Expected Behavior:
Camera would "Bump" on collision with the wall mesh, and move forward, staying in the same room, just closer to the avatar.

More Info
In a recent update (possibly related to PBR, first noticed in Firestorm 7.x) this function changed. Previously, even with "Disable Camera Constraints" enabled, the followcam in it's 'default' [Escape Key] mode, would still bounce off objects (walls, celings, etc) to remain 'in the same room' with the avatar.
This is no longer the case. It works as expected when "Disable Camera Constraints" is unticked, but when ticked this 'camera bump' function no longer works.
The longstanding behavior of this function, going back over a decade, is that even with "Disable Camera Constraints" enabled, the default followcam would 'bump' off objects.

Whirly cannot reproduce the issue on Firestorm beta. If you haven't filed a bug with Firestorm yet, please do so.
I'm going to move this issue to Feature Requests - about adding an additional option.

Yes, I've restarted.
I don't know what more information I can provide here.. it's still 'broken' in FS Beta64 7.1.11.76493
This was reported to FS in February. Firestorm Jira 33677
And to SL in October. SL Feedback Submission

Hi Honey Puddles.
This is working as expected. The "Disable Camera Constraints" behavior was changed in https://releasenotes.secondlife.com/viewer/7.1.1.7039128750.html
The Disable Camera Constraints allows the camera to zoom out through walls, to zoom out past the set draw distance, and to move below the terrain height map.
Jelly Doll
Dan Linden There are two use cases here.
* Not having limitations on how far one can move the camera.
* Having a camera that functions in interior spaces.
These 2 use cases are entirely seperate. One requires the camera to be freely moved away from the avatar, the other is when it's directly following the avatar.
This one single option should not do both. A camera that drifts back though walls when in follow mode is necessary!

On Firestorm, if you want the camera bump, go to Preferences -> Move & View -> Allow the camera to move without constraints through prims -> Disable this setting.
Then "Disable camera constraints" is enabled, camera will not bump.
When "Disable camera constraints" is disabled, cameras will bump.
Bambi Bubbles
Whirly Fizzle that function is not working in firestorm, since they integrated the pbr code in their pbr beta.

Bambi Bubbles: Did you disable the setting Preferences -> Move & View -> Allow the camera to move without constraints through prims?
Kuuko Shan
Whirly Fizzle Honey is right, the setting is broken. Disabling "Allow the camera to move without constraints through prims" does nothing. I guess the regular "Disable camera constraints" one overrides all this.

I have been using disable camera constraints since forever and my camera never ever bumped into anything precisely because disable camera constraints it's being used. In fact I always had this turned on solely for the camera to not bump into anything. Am I missing something?
If what you want is the camera to bump, wouldn't you just turn that setting off like it is by default? It's there any reason for you to want that setting enabled yet have the camera bumping around?
