DisableLookAtAnimation essentially breaks the LookAt feature

Not necessarily a bug as it's likely working as "intended", but I suspect this feature might do more harm than is ideal currently. The original request for this feature was meant for those who essentially wish to opt-out of the client driving the LookAt animations for their avatar, but in its current state, residents may consider using this feature for one of the following reasons that it is not intended for.
DisableLookAtAnimation:
- Turns off all LookAt animations locally, including those of other avatars who may actually want to use LookAt for its intended use (looking at things)
DisableLookAtAnimation does NOT:
- Hide LookAt animations when viewed by others
- Prevent LookAt from being broadcast
This is fine for debugging purposes, but for those meaning to use it to disable LookAt animations for their avatar permanently (including when perceived by others) it's not ideal. It also "breaks" the LookAt feature for others entirely who do intend to use it for its intended use.

Hi Victoria,
An edit to the settings description in Debug Settings can be added to clarify that this is indeed only activated locally.
Can you expand on: "It also "breaks" the LookAt feature for others entirely who do intend to use it for its intended use." Is this setting breaking for others another way? Or are you referring to the "Show Look At" option breaking (found in Develop>Avatar)?

Atlas Linden Hi Atlas! DisableLookAtAnimation will also disable the LookAt from other avatars locally since it simply disables it wholesale, my avatar for example actually uses it to turn the head towards other avatars etc. but if they have this feature enabled they won't see it on their end (nor their own of course).

Thanks Victoria,
This is now being tracked here: https://github.com/secondlife/viewer/issues/4058
If you wish to have this setting also be observed by others, please file a separate feature request.

Atlas Linden it's more about the setting applies to ALL avatars on your client, rather than only disabling it for your own avatar locally.
