Keyboard slowness on multiple viewers

For the past couple of weeks, I've noticed multiple viewers (Firestorm, Alchemy, Kokua and legacy SL) have been very slow to respond to keyboard inputs. Sometimes I'll have to press the same key up to 3 or 4 times before the input shows up in the chat.
At first I thought it was a hardware issue, but I noticed this happens exclusively in SL viewers, not in any other other app on my PC.
Here's what I've tried doing, all to no avail:
Cleaned the keyboard
Restarted the viewer and the computer
System diagnostic test
Firmware and driver updates
Stopping as many other apps and background processes as possible
Checked internet connection (excellent speed/ping, minimal packet loss).
I can't reproduce because it seemingly happens at random, but for some reason it happens most often between 7-10 PM SLT. This is true no matter how long my PC has been in use that day, and no matter what I've been doing on it.
My computer is less than a year old and should be more than capable of handling SL:

Thank you for answering all of those questions! I haven't been able to reproduce this issue on my end so far.
I'm wondering if you have something else installed on your computer that might be handling user input? Something like auto hotkey or joy2key maybe.
Also can you try the WASD keys along with checking the 4 case. I'm wondering if it's specific to letter keys and not to arrow keys.

I think translation key combos also might affect things, so if you have a translation mode it might be doing something? But I'm not sure!

Thanks for getting back to me. To answer your questions:
1) I use the arrow keys to move around, not WASD. So I don't know about the latter. The arrow keys are fine, though. It seems to only affect letters/numbers/characters in the local chat and IMs.
2) I have not tested NCs/scripts but I can do that the next time this happens.
3) I think the characters are getting lost--that pressing 'a' 4 times only generates one 'a'. However, this occurs at my normal typing speed, so as soon as I notice it happening, I just groan, delete everything and start the whole word again. Maybe 4 a's would have eventually come out, or maybe not. But this doesn't feel like a normal lag issue where it all shows up, just a few seconds late.
Also I forgot to mention that sometimes the letters come in out of order. I thought this was just me making typos at first, but it happens a lot and especially when this is happening. For example:
Let's say I wanted to type the word "ball." at my normal typing speed, and the problem occurs. I type 'b' first, then 'a,' then the 2 Ls faster than my brain can process it because it's such a short word. I don't notice the problem until I get through the whole word--it might come out 'abll" even if I definitely typed it properly.
My reflex would be to just delete the whole word and start again, but pay more attention to making sure the 'b' comes out first. I delete the word, then start typing again, and the 'b' doesn't come out. I'll hit 'b' 2 - 4 times (my record was 5, I think) until it finally comes out properly. (I don't get multiple b's after that. Like it doesn't come out as "all," then a bunch of random 'b's show up in the middle of the next word or whatever. Like a "Bermuda Triangle.")
Next, I finish the next word and the problem repeats itself. On longer words, the issue happens multiple times before the word comes out properly.
4) I haven't checked a totally "clean" region like Hippo Hills Island or anything but I certainly can. This has happened on multiple regions that I've never had a problem with before, and on both my main account and my alt.

Some questions so we can drill into this more:
- Does it affect movement (pushing WASD or the arrow keys) as well?
- What about notecards or scripts?
- Also are the characters getting lost? Like if you press aenough times to get it to register does it showafor every time you pressed it (like the chat saysaaaabecause you pushed it 4 times)? Or is it only the lastathat shows up?
- Does this happen more frequently in certain regions?
