[PBR] some textures with transparency do not render in alphablend (Macos Sonoma M1)

Using the old materials, not PBR materials, some textures with transparency do not render using the PBR viewer.
Half of my clothes appear invisible because they have transparency, so I cannot use them.
Walls with transparency are invisible to me, though I still bump into them. So anything like handrails, windows, fences, are just invisible.
Banners with some transparency, for example in voice island, I cannot see the banners.
No prim water either, so no ponds and fountains.
At the moment I am using firestorm without PBR to be able to view my clothes and walls.
Bests,

Unfortunately, this is still broken.
• Second Life Release 7.1.8.9375512768 (64bit)
Various combinations of shaders and shadows make all alpha textures disappear.

This issue still repros for me on Second Life Viewer featurettes 7.1.7.8883017948 and 7.1.8.910384320.
Both versions were tested on Intel iMac (3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon Pro 5700 8 GB).
The newer viewer was tested just on an M1 Mac Air.

Fix shadow and disappearing prims for Mac users . It s the only major flaw in the pbr system. Or at least give a work around that is not just shutting off shadows

Any update please? this was set as a high priority over a month ago. Show stopper for Mac users (unless we want to go back in time with no shadows :-)

would appreciate an update please - this being a major issue for mac users, rendering (if you'll pardon the pun) the viewer unusable. Thanks

Good workaround Luc (alternatively can also use alpha masking - set to 1 or above) however, as you imply - doesnt work in all cases and if no mod then...
Would be good to understand (LL) what progress has been made on fixing this bug as its a real show stopper for Mac users (unlike some of the other more minor issues)- lots of trees around :-) (with no leaves), clothes, hair, and many other objects. Thus the current released PBR viewer (mac) is unusable.
thanks

A solution to this is fairly simple, although not the best one perhaps.
Simply add a blank bump/Normal map to the object which has a alpha texture. This causes alpha textures to show in most cases, also with shadows enabled.
This will obviously only work for objects you have modify rights to.
For no-mod objects we have to rely on the Lindens to fix the issue. As a temporary, until a permanent fix is made, I want to ask the :Lindens to have the system/viewer/server/mesh uploader (whichever part of the system is best) generate a blank normal/bump map for any object which do not have one already. It will not alter the surface on the object, but will make sure alpha textures show correctly.

Luc Starsider I was testing this, noticed what you said Luc, and also noticed that enabling a specular map texture also does the trick, or enabling full bright. even setting some glow makes it appearing. this might help the developers to spot the origin of the problem.
