Add ability to 'tear off' (and alternatively minimize) 3D view
Cutie Crush
Over the past 20+ years, the request from users with wide or multiple monitors to be able to 'take the floating windows out of the viewer' has been repeated, ad nauseam. We've been told repeatedly that this is simply not possible, as the 'floater' windows are being rendered by the viewer graphics pipeline.
So how about an alternative idea:
Let us (optionally) 'tear off' the 3D view, and render it/move it around, within it's own 'floater'.
This would allow users with multiple monitors to 'stretch the application' to utilize more of their screen real-estate, while at the same time allowing them to avoid the significant camera distortion and the avatar being placed 'helpfully' dead center of the screen at all times.
See example attached mock-ups, for how this might be implemented.
This feature, if also included with a 'minimize' function, could allow the standard second life viewer to act in a lower resource utilization mode, by effectively disabling the rendering of the 3D view while the floater was minimized.

This is a feature I would absolutely love. Having the chat window on a separate monitor would help clear up so much screen space.

I would love to have my chat in other monitor sometimes

love this, often you need all the other tabs, but do not need yourself and the scene at all, which often means I wire frame to help out if working between two accounts, this would mean ability to check items in inventory communicated etc but not render...yes, please and thank you

I'd prefer something that has been designed for the intended use case rather than something that has arisen from a lack of design.
I'm still going to vote on this because I think that this can still be useful in single monitor this would at least be useful for getting all the crap out of the 3D viewport.

I have been griping about this for....I don't even KNOW how long! YEARS! I would LOVE to be able to put My interfaces (chat, huds, etc) all on one screen, while My view is on another (preferably My larger one). The biggest problem I have when building stuff is All the stuff on My screen gets in the way.

This seems interesting as a workaround… will talk to engineers.

I would love to be able to have the world view on one of my monitors, with all of the UI (including notifications to keep them out of the way for machinima recording) and HUDs being kept on my second monitor, especially while I'm setting up a photo shoot. Things become quite cluttered, with several HUDs and windows all having to be opened up on top of a shot that I'm compositing.
Being able to undock the 3D rendering from the rest of the viewer elements would be great.

This might get a bit weird when you have monitors with different resolutions. But hey I'll upvote any attempt to keep piling on the multi-monitor support requests.
