Add optional expiry to notices
tracked
Logan Elf
Allow notice creators to optionally specify a lifetime for it. It's annoying when you login to get a slew of notices about past events, especially as some groups i'm in posters send 2 or 3 notices per event

Big +1 on this. It should help engagement. Right now, you might see a stack of dozens of group notices when you log in, especially for club groups. That trains people to ignore or bulk-close the stack.
If irrelevant notices vanish, we'd stop training people to ignore the remainder.

Title: Shorter experation times on group notices
Details: Many notices in groups are only useful for a limited time, like a few hours. When logging in, I often get a lot of useless notices all at once. Prime examples of these are from the "1 Linden 1 Hour" and "5 Lindens 1 Hour" groups. Once the hour is up, the notice becomes spam and requires wasting time to dismiss them.
Maybe there is some value in preserving in the group, but some indication of when a notice is no longer relevant to show to the user.

Day/hour based group notices should auto delete if not delivered before expiration.

I get several time-based notices when I log in that are for an event that already came and left some days or hours before I login.
Why am I receiving old, outdated messages?
Pushed, time based, group messages should expire and be automatically deleted at the end of an event, if not delivered by then.

As far as the notice system is concerned, they're not outdated as there's no way to specify an expiration date/time. i suggested being able to add an expiry date/time to notices:
which would then enable the notification system to delete expired notices.

I completely agree on this. It would come in handy for weekend or flash sales as well
