Default to no incoming DM's from non-friends

Presently, default new resident setting is to be able to receive DMs from non-friends. Change to opposite - unless someone is your friend, they cannot send you an unsolicited DM.
Seems like this could have a net positive impact on phishing and griefing? Thoughts?

How about LL listens to the userbase that keeps getting harassed, doxxed, copybotted (gen-ai is the new copybotting) & other serious issues? On top of needing majority to stop falling for spam bots (ai bots being the new begger bots). Educate the users with that, PBR, help with settings. Torley Linden had to do all of the work in making videos on helping new users get hang of SL.
There is so much actual useful help y'all could do and yet ignore that because it's too much work. What about updating scripts? Hover height issue is back even. Texture issues too. Lag happens as nothing is limited with optimization. There is so much that gets ignored and been piling up for years, because y'all just do not want to do the work.
Now with this awful suggestion about IMs, all because you want to bypass the serious issue your ai bots have. And that's jumping to IM'ing random people. Real people have complained about that, and you think this is the solution? Absolutely not the fix you think it'll be.

This is a awful idea, there is one positive, and a million negatives. imagine trying to ask for support for a product but unable to unless you friend them first? roleplaying at a club? friend first. I understand the reasoning behind this meant well, Instead, Linden Lab should crack down on group spammers, crack down on 'subscription spam'. Simply monitor same messages, being sent out from one user to dozens of others.
