Concerning the GIFs in chat:
Most of the world uses it in forms of chat that are either one on one direct messages, small ad-hoc groups with a group owner that can kick people, or in a larger group with actual active moderation.
If this were added to Second Life chat it would need to be an optional feature. It would be an absolute chaotic mess in local chat in public places without constant supervision though.
• Local chat: Please no. This is a recipe for potential absolute nightmare spam gif wall hurricane.
• Group chat: Ok, but 100% needs a group option to toggle it, with it off by default.
• Private IMs: Likely fine.

Emoji is currently on the way, it's in the beta viewers at the moment.

Vincent Nacon My only complaint with the emojis right now is that they're tiny - they're the same size as text, which is fine, but they're hard to see. Would be cool to be able to increase their size independent of the text size.
