Ground cover for landscaping
tracked
Curious Thespian
Some of the library plants created by Eric Linden track the terrain, for example
Leafy ground cover
Grass - short 1
Grass - short 2
Grass - tall 1
Grass - tall 2
The above also track the terrain as it is moved, which is simply fabulous.
I believe it would be a useful feature to allow the creation of custom ground cover that was able to use this system rather than the current mechanism of having to manually create a mesh that follows the contours only to have to re-do or hack something else in if the land needs to be changed.
I'll admit I was 6001 days old before I realised this when I decided to decorate some ground with Linden plants to match the surroundings!

This would be an interesting feature with plants that move with the SL ground in some places but it would also need a toggle in the edit window to turn off the snap functionality.
The main reason is that many landscape artists in SL are forced to work with mesh ground due to the limitations of the SL ground, and if plants start moving to the SL ground level automatically, then they will always end up below the mesh ground objects which would be an issue.

Is there something special that Eric Linden had access to, that we plebs do not?
Curious Thespian
Bavid Dailey I expect so! And it's something that's been in there, well, forever. I just can't quite believe it's taken me so long to realise.
