Increased group limits
in progress

Overall increase in group space for all residents is needed. There are hundreds of creators, business owners, and people in secondlife and so many are talented.
It's a shame we can't show our support due to the current group limits. 42, 50, 70, and 140 is not enough.
I am a current Premium plus member and 140 is just not enough. I find myself constantly having to choose between which groups to leave in order to join another.
I propose an increase to the following:
Basic Members--100 group limit
Plus Members--150 group limit
Premium Members--250 group limit
Premium Plus Members--400 group limit
People who are worried about notifications due to larger group limits please remember you can turn off group notifications.
I think the larger group limits will help everyone whether they are business owners, consumers, or just someone making a group for hangout purposes. The current group limits don't allow us to scratch even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to supporting and connecting with others.

In addition to an increase in groups, I would like groups fixed so they can handle a larger number of members. Once they become too big, the group breaks and the member list is not retrievable to group admins or linden lab employees . Chat posting will also break down. If everyone can join more groups and not have to play the game of dropping and joining, memberships will be higher and more groups will break. I would also like to see an admin button that you can mass eject group members that have not logged into sl in 6months or x time to help with groups size management. I filed a jira on this long ago …..it was accepted and now I can’t locate it anymore.

I agree that the proposed increase amount is needed. Nowadays everyone and their mother has a group they want you to join, and being involved in a normal amount of activity in SL requires much more group spaces than we currently have. The current limits are based on years ago when there wasn't as many groups. I have Premium Plus and I can see myself easily exceeding 400 joined groups, but it would be a huge improvement from the low amount that even PP has.

I personally believe the entire groups system should be redone, but this is absolutely the next best thing. Having a group limit as low as it is currently makes it so much harder to keep up with stores, clubs, and the myriad other aspects of SL life.

I approve, the stores have increased, then clubs, DJs, houses, etc... Probably the perfect basic number is 100, then the rest more with premium.

Given that there a lot of us who've been with SL for decades, and also support this space, honestly all group memberships should be looked at. Its such a monetary gain for those who, yes, make SL their livelihood, but to those unable to actually afford this luxury (it is not a necessity). Groups should be really more attainable for all, regardless if they pay into it or not.

I agree with the original post from ivymoonstore when she said "I think the larger group limits will help everyone whether they are business owners, consumers, or just someone making a group for hangout purposes. The current group limits don't allow us to scratch even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to supporting and connecting with others."

What is the purpose of having Groups to begin with? I would say to increase awareness of SL around you and better interact with others. I would say that there are basically FOUR different types of groups; Education, Social, Entertainment, and Shopping/Revenue Generation. Education: Where people come to learn, impart experiences and create a forum for all to share the wealth of knowledge that is around us. Social: This can be real-life regional, Activity, Role Play or even botany lovers; this is SL where you can be or experience what ever you want! These first two types of Groups are what usually attracts people into SL to begin with and SL needs to nurture these groups to entice, encourage and promote SL to not only those who are curious about the platform but to those already here.
These next two are why added groups are not just convenient but a necessity for SL's brand and survival. SL's currency; the LINDEN is managed by and supports not only the Vendors but SL (Linden Labs) itself. Every Linden bought or sold sends a small percentage back to the house. If an entertainer has you join their group so its easier to stay in the loop on events; every tip sends something back to Linden Labs. Now, I'm Premium Plus and have maxed my groups out so I also play the "swap game" and for me I'm unable to accept group invites from Entertainers because I dont have the room and here is the common results; 1) Members will often miss out on events and lessening the value of their time in SL and therefor its Value to them. 2) Venues have a tough time growing if people often dont KNOW about events. 3) lower attendance at these events means less income for those performing and venues close.
The LAST type of GROUP (If I missed a type of group I apologize) is probably the most important; Vendor/Shopping Event Groups. Every day of the week has Sales Events happening and most tenured members of SL know the shopping pages and will often scan these events. Having GROUPS for these vendors provides a Value-Added niche to their Stores/Venues and provides loyalty from the customer. 142 groups, really? Can you imagine a MALL anywhere in the REAL WORLD that would want to LIMIT the customers that know about and therefore visit? I'm Partnered in SL so not only do I need to have my Groups, I need my Partners' Groups as well to keep up on what is new for her (I can say LOL but its more truthful than sarcastic)!
Please increase MAX GROUPS!

I fully support the motion because the subscription to the groups is really insufficient. I am pleased that Linden Lab is taking action on the matter and soon there will be a significant increase in such subscriptions at all levels.

Totally and absolutely agree with you Ivymoonstore! Im a Premium Plus member and i am maxed out at 140 and given that most of the groups now charge varying amounts of linden to join, trying to join a new one when you have none left is a ever tightening process of finding out which of the groups you are in is the cheapest to leave and wont damage the linden wallet too much if you have to rejoin. Apart from anything else, notifications of new products helps the creators and the stores who otherwise wouldn't come to your attention unless you stumble over them when you are out and about. Also we would buy more if we had more groups to tag ourselves with to earn store credits. I literally don't know who i belong to these days and my list is far from satisfactory. So yes if its a question of Linden Labs having to limit, at least make it a realistic limit. Given one of them main activities in SL and what keeps it ticking over, is shopping, anything to make it easier and more accessible really needs to be considered. Currently i am at 0 groups available, which means if i want to join another,, there i go with the laborious process of opening them up individually and "nope not that one it cost $L200" and so on. Drives me bonkers :(
cheers Jasmin
