Please include Linden Lab Viewer V1.23 as an optional UI theme skin in future LL viewers
SarahKB7 Koskinen
Many people abandoned Linden Lab's official viewers after LL Viewer 2 completely changed it's UI style and layout from the much loved and friendlier to use Viewer V1.23.
Many of those original LL viewer users hated the changes were then forced to start using the alternative third party Firestorm viewer instead, which had the option to emulate the original LL viewer with a Skin option named "Vintage".
Could LL please include a similar or identical "Vintage" skin back into their current and future viewers? As part of the skin option, original UI style and locations of windows, features, options and buttons should be placed back where they once were before the introduction of LL Viewer 2 changed it all.
I believe this added "retro" or "Vintage" skin feature would improve the ease of use of an official LL viewer for new SL users, while also reducing the "unnecessary" features added into Firestorm that makes it "heavier" and unnecessarily over complex or overkill for newer or average SL users to fully utilise.
It might also encourage those older SL users who abandoned LL viewers to return back to where they first learned to use SL too.

Yes. It's imo about overall-efficiency of the GUI. I dont care for vintage or not. The V1 just demonstrated more efficiency. In that indeed it was much "friendlier". Bad today is mostly wasting space on the screen by using large frames of boxes etc; forcing one to use bigger screens, and other things. That forces one to use larger screens (higher resolution) which then in turn show smaller characters due to new technologies (HDD?). It's obvious that linden lab does not design for i.e. laptops or monitors with the specs like 72 or 69 dpi, and/or i.e. 1366*768. For people with visual impairment it became more and more a pain. (This it the windows world nowadays in generel, too) What has gone south now is the simplicy and efficiency, clear structure and economic organisation. (If I remember right LL wanted a new "modern" viewer because of making the viewer also a childs-play for new beginners. Failed.). The good things were there already and perfect enough in V1. Though it would be naiive to believe that LL would optimize complelty the current viewer therefore I support the option to switch to a "vintage"-alike GUI at least.

Giving more choices as well as default look, sound wonderful!
I wish there are pastel color skin also. If there are more friendly viewer skin editor... that would even be wonderful.. XUI XML is very hard to manually edit...

Thanks for this post SarahKB7 Koskinen, I would go back to LL Viewer now if it had the vintage blue skin, it's clearer and more organized, it doesn't have that mess of chat screens, it certainly has the most organized UI style.
Skins are a matter of "choice" it is a fact that they are called "vintage", it does not mean old and not modern, just a different way of showing the same thing, yes if there were options to choose from it would be much better

Many love the 'old school' look of vintage.

much of the "v1 style" you are seeing in third party viewers are not just skins, they are complete re-write of alot of those functions such as chat or other windows. Having a "vintage" style skin wont bring those back. and I for one vote against this feature request to change back to "vintage" styles. I would much rather see clean modern style UI.

Crexon Resident they're not asking for LL to change the viewer back to the 1.23.5 theme, just for it to be an option to have that color scheme (and layout). you can have that and have a clean modern UI, It'd be up to the user which is they prefer.

Thern Lorefield What do you think constitutes "the theme" other than the color scheme and the layout...? That is literally the entire viewer. It's like saying Windows should have a Mac "theme", you can't do that without totally redesigning the entire UI.

I wholeheartedly agree with myself! And with others who (hopefully) agree too!
