As of this writing, residents can engage in abusive behavior by sending L$ to people who have blocked them. This enables the unwanted receipt of messages from blocked parties using the L$ Pay notes as an attack vector.
When someone is blocked, all methods of communication or interaction should be prohibited at the forefront. People circumventing this are not only harassing people, but exploiting a safety exploit in the payment system to continue harassing people, which given the negligble cost of L$ on an individual level, these attacks could be persistent.

As someone who has seen both sides of the looking glass from being friends with the people being harassed by the messages with the L$ to being friends with the people being harassed by multiple day-old accounts I believe that IP Blocking needs to make a comeback or something Even more. Honestly, I don't see the purpose to people having so many alts maybe there needs to be a limit to how many alts a person can have and when you register you have to submit facial recognition. Also, I think when you ban someone the ability to Pay them needs to be removed the message as well that is just a form of harassment for stalkers to use to get at their targets. All in all, something needs done with both scenarios not just the blocking of the payment but preventing people from making alts to get at their targets.

It's baffling to me that this is even an issue to begin with. Being able to block dodge by throwing Lindens at someone and leaving a message is a severe oversight in safety concerns that it essentially renders the ability to block somebody useless. This needs to be addressed ASAP and treated seriously. To me, SL and local life are one in the same, and something like this is no different than having one's assailant show up at their place of work and they are forced to tolerate it. Cyber stalking is a felony, and allowing this kind of behavior in any way makes one complicit and quite possibly an accessory.

It is strange to me that if you block someone, there are ways around that block. You should not have to deal with ex's that are trying to ruin your fun or people that are just bad people. It's unfortunate that people like this exist in the world both real and virtual but they do. I have seen many friends leave SL over this type of behavior they can not get away from. Linden Labs needs to bring back the IP banning of people that are responsible for bringing toxic behavior into SL. The fact you can make a new account or use a workaround to badger someone is something Linden Labs needs to deal with and the only way to do it is to take harassment seriously and IP ban people. I love how one of the comments calls out someone in this very thread, to me, that is just as bad as whoever they are talking about.

Konstantin86 Resident Unfortunately, my partner has suffered from harassment and trolling for several months now. He's a sim owner, owns more than one for that matter, and a business owner. He hasn't had to create a new persona or rebrand, YET. Yet, being the key word. What's even worse, is that the individuals, who are creating new avatars, and sending in so-called friends to watch what is happening, are numerous. They have even taken to harassing me, by adding slanderous and hateful picks in their profile. There's literally no recourse for these cases of abuse. I have to agree, after being in world for 19 years, myself, the last 5 or so years, has gotten really toxic. We can't even say that the problems have been created by accounts that are legitimately new. A lot of the drama and the problems are created by individuals, who have been in SL for as long as we have.

What I find interesting is that there are people on this feed, commenting about abuse and harassment that are the first ones, who should be completely blocked. Frankly trolling and abuse have become far too common in SL and I feel that at the present moment, that LL hasn't done much to help prevent it. Not only should the block bypass be abandoned, in addition to provisions to prevent stalkers from harassing TOS compliant members. Additionally, some provision should be made to prevent slander and harassment content from profile picks. We can say anything we want, and there is no way for us to have any recourse for that.
Not to mention that fact that anyone, that I don't know can harass and slander me, through all of these channels, when I have never even interacted with them. I don't understand, who has enough time to troll people that they don't even know, simply because they are now a part of someone's SL, that these trolls are not longer involved with, for whatever the reason. I have gotten tired of the animosity from people throwing shade at me, who I don't even know, and have never spoken to them in any ill mannered way.

People that make a new account as in 1 day old, then use that avatar to slander, attack and otherwise abuse people should be addressed as well. These methods of harassment make it impossible to deal from people that are intent on abuse with the current system. Sadly people that are toxic or mentally unhinged are going to attack decent people but there needs to be a way to put a stop to the abuse to people that are here for fun and spending real money and have actual investment in this lovely world we are blessed with.

Daphne Mendle Thank you, I had to make a whole new account/avatar because my ex was harassing me and my partner all the time. Linden Labs seems to not care about this problem. Blocking or name changing is pointless and it costs money to change your name, your key # is the same so paying to change a name is a waste of money if you are trying to escape harassment. The fact they can create a new avatar and message you and there is nothing you can do to stop the harassment is a bad problem. I was a creator and shop owner, had to rebrand, rename, and redo everything to escape it. You would think with the income stream I created LL would have done something to help me, instead I got zero help so had to just throw in the towel and start all over again. 21 years ago, never had a problem with anyone, the last 5 years, it's become a real problem for myself and even some friends of mine. The harassment actually drove a good friend of mine to suicide 2 yrs ago, yet LL just keeps making money so they do not care.

Konstantin86 Resident its very very sad you have to go through this; and the reason why I made a post to link to the original is a good friend of mine is going through the same thing you did, no matter how many reports or complaints the person does not get any discipline and is allowed to go on his merry way trolling and abusing people.

So since you looked me up in world I paid several of the people in this thread the same visit. Having viewed some primfeed posts, profile posts, and doing some digging I can clearly see who is who now. To answer your original post before you changed it, yes this is a newer account. I have been a part of SL since it went to open beta back in 2003 and have had the pleasure of being a creator for most of that time. I am willing to bet, you have things in your inventory I created even. I was forced to start over again because of people that listened to someone playing the hurt little innocent victim. Sadly April, not everyone tells the truth in these situations so be careful what you are told, or even shown as I have had "evidence" that was fabricated to deal with myself. Sometimes people like the attention and use it. Ask yourself if the person crying wolf has more to gain from it. Did they have a lot of friends before this happened? Did they gain more from playing on you being a compassionate and caring person? How well do you know the person, the real person not the avatar? Again there is a lot you can tell about people from profiles and posts that are out there if you do some digging like I did on you and those posting directly to me here. Of course my former real world profession of being a profiler for 35 yrs gives me an advantage here. Just consider what you are being told or shown and consider the other side. I got railroaded out of a great shop and a lot of friends over a single person making things up so they could gain friends and have a better time in SL. So my advice to you is consider talking to the other side before you assume what you are being told is the whole story and true. Those that yell wolf the loudest are in fact the wolf in the story.

Salonge Baxton I agree that this form of abuse needs to be solved along with the ability to make a new avatar and use it to attack people. There are many people that use this to bypass blocks/bans to keep attacking someone. You just may want to consider who you are listening to as not being the most trustworthy person. My experiences have made me look deep into things before I pick a side and I can tell what camp you are clearly in from the posts here and other sources such as profiles and public posts. I had to deal with my personal hell for over a year before giving up and leaving everything I had built. All that is left of me in SL after over 20 yrs, is a MP store. I gave up my sim, my shops, my club, my friends, and my fun. All due to someone that wanted to ruin me over a failed relationship of about 3 yrs. I could not understand how some people that just met him, put so much faith in what he was saying. These people had known me longer, really known me but decided the story he was telling them was in fact 100% true. I think people believe what they want to without considering the other side, or that the 'facts' they are being told or shown are genuine when in fact they are false, fabricated, or over stated. Unless you are the victim you should consider the source.

Having again checked profiles and posts, I can tell you are at the center of this group of people in this thread. You may want to check yourself and those around you. I can tell from various posts and profile items you are looking for attention, or are in fact being railroaded by someone in your own circle. In my case, it turned out that I was used by someone I thought was telling me the truth when in fact it was not. Again, for over a year I had to deal with all types of attacks thinking it was my ex when it was someone else that was throwing gasoline on the fire to enjoy the drama. The best advice I can give you is to talk to the person(s) on the other side to get to the bottom of it. Once I found out the level of deception and lies I was left with no choice but to quit everything I had worked so long to enjoy and go elsewhere and not even associate with the people I had been for the better part of 20 yrs. Was not an easy choice, but in my case, my real life health and sanity were more important to me and my family outside of SL. I still create, I still enjoy time in SL, I just had to walk away from those people and those circles to be safe. You have to ask yourself, is a video game worth your mental wellness? I decided to come back and remain a quiet participant in order to enjoy a creative outlet. Again, at the end of the day it's just pixels on a screen, I am sure your real world friends and family would agree they would rather have you with them anyway.

Daphne Mendle I am sorry your partner is dealing with this behavior. It seems to be happening more and more in SL to people that I known as well as myself. I have seen it happen to both men and women, new and old avatars alike. Clearly the mental health of people in SL post COVID seems to have taken a turn for the worst. The amount of decent, loyal, honest people seems to be overwhelmed by the toxic people. I hate to say maybe your partner should take my method out, but again is the abuse worth logging into? Having done my checks into the people replying to me I have a pretty good picture of things from the outside. I am sorry you are being put through this. Stick by those you know to be good people and question everything outside sources throw at you. Put your trust in people that you have had long periods of time around or have known for many years to be the person you think they are. Do not let those that have no friends, or fake friends that are jealous of what you and your partner have control your fun. Again, I am able to read between the lines from people's posts here, profiles and other posts I could find. It would appear you are dealing with a group of people that feel then need to "protect the hurt innocent victim" when in fact that person is likely causing all of the problems to keep what they have together and they enjoy the attention. The thing I find stupid is it's a video game, if you are truly being hurt, or harassed, do what I did and leave. I can tell you from my experience, linden labs will do nothing to help anyone so you need to take the money away to get them to listen!

Konstantin86 Resident I'm sorry to hear you've been through that sort of struggle here in SL. It seems like anyone who spends any real meaningful time here does deal with amplified good and bad from others. As far as considering the source, I have 2 eyes that work and I've seen the receipts, and have even been bullied by this person as well, threatened, called names, etc. I have a thicker skin about these things and I'm unbothered by it...maybe that's why I haven't received as much of the ugliness. I forgive easily when attacked, I'm not holding a grudge personally. But when someone I genuinely care about is feeling boxed in on all sides because of someone who won't move on, that's a problem. You have explained what you've gone through here so I know you can turn that sort of graceful energy toward others. You've assumed quite a lot just from looking at profiles, and the very one thing I've learned in my time online is that people can surprise you. I've seen so much good here, I've seen lives changed by those around them when they're supported. That's all we're doing. I wish the same for you too.

April Ravenwood No harm, hugs. Given the anonymity of the internet and the ability to create an alt to use I understand your reply. Being retired from a form of law enforcement I completely understand how things can appear. That is why I did my checking before I made my replies. Nothing worse than making a comment you can't undo when you did not have all of the fact. I hope you are well and are finding fun and peace in SL. My new main account may even come visit you in some of the places I see everyone has in profiles. The best piece of advice I can give you and those being harassed is to talk directly to the person(s) you think may be behind things. It wasn't until I finally decided to talk to my ex that we had both been victimized by a 3rd party that was jealous. Again, thanks to how SL is setup it's easier than you think to create a false narrative and sell it to people. Evidence can be fabricated with AI too easy, people can alter texts and images, so be careful to judge someone. We always want to side with our friends, it's the way people are and there is nothing wrong with that. I am also not saying you friend(s) are liars. What I am saying is that sometimes getting both sides makes things a lot more clear. Put your differences aside and talk to the other side, you might find you have been played.

Dealing with someone that makes you feel like he is stalking you even when blocked to pay 1L to get you a message is wrong, They need block them fully, no more 1L notes and stop them from resending things they gifted as well, there is a reason they are blocked and banned from our lifes and we need the Help of LLs to make the block for everything not just IMs. this one has been reported many times not just by me but others around me that he is started trouble for as well, its sad that he can get to us through a 1L message
