Preview for BOM items in inventory

Since BOM items are basically graphics, just handled differently to be worn, it would be helpful (and save a heck of a lot of time) to be able to preview before wearing. A lot of creators do not provide images in their packaging, so being able to see what it is without having to put it on/take it off/go on to the next item...would be awesome. If creators are worried that people would rip their work, you could put a big "preview" text across the pop-up template to discourage people from simply taking screenshots to copy the items. Just an idea...

This sounds like a more general issue: dynamically generating previews of items without needing to take preview snapshots manually. Of course, this would require downloading the item first, so the first time you do this would be rather slow.

I use the Image feature for this. You do have to wear it once to take the image but it is a quick process, and can be used for many types of items. For closeups of small things I take a screenclip of the area and upload that in the Image dialog box. After it is created, moving the cursor over the inventory item will pop up a preview image.

Hello, and thank you for your feature request regarding the ability to preview BOM items in inventory. This idea has been brought up in the past and is currently tracked. We understand how beneficial it would be to preview items before wearing them, especially given the challenges of managing large inventories. While we have no estimate on when this feature might be implemented, please keep an eye on future updates. We appreciate your input and hope you continue to share your ideas to help improve Second Life. Thank you!
