Prims and land

Calculating how many prims you get on what size parcel has always been a chore. It would so much easier, if the allotment were 1 prim per square meter or 1/2 prim per square meter. Please consider this.

Look in the Objects tab of About Land, same as you'd do if you already owned/rented it.

just click the top of your viewer for that info in about land dropdown. Many of these problems are more a lack of understanding of where everything is in the viewers. In fairness, the focus on what SL is and what you need to know changes from year to year. Many using SL thinks its something completely different to what the other thinks. Ask an old timer what SL is & you'll see what I mean.

every "about land" gives the amount of Li. ... why change the total code for something that's there already?

Dyna Mole is correct. However, I think there is still room for some sort of tool that lets people buying land in a particular region get a good idea of how many prims they would receive for a given square meter plot. The problem of private regions and the transfers Dyna speaks of is a separate problem, to be sure.

I just use this for mainland. https://secondlife.com/land/pricing It breaks down how many prims in 512, 1024 etc. So if I was getting a 1536 parcel, I'd be getting 526 L.i. (prims) That and if you see a mainland plot for sale, in person, right clicking it and selecting about land shows total capacity under objects.
IIRC if using the map and clicking on the $ sign on a plot for sale brings up the listing. Maybe Im thinking something else but it I thot it stated how many prims on that as well.
Yes private regions can be a pain depending on the owner.

Talvin Muircastle Once you've bought land 2 or 3 times, that sort of info becomes routine & no big deal. The tool you speak of is clicking the top of your viewer and looking in about land with your eyes at the prims info.

Irishk9 Aeon I have bought land two or three times. Not everyone has. Not all parcels are neat multiples of 512. And sometimes you have to buy the big parcel, chop off what you don't need, and trust there are enough prims left on the rest.

Talvin Muircastle I just do the math in those scenarios but math isnt everyones bag, I get that.

There isn't a fixed number, because the total capacity isn't the same for all regions. If your region has a standard 20,000 L.I. capacity, each sq. m. can hold 20,000 L.I. / 65,536 sq m = 0.305 L.I./sq m. If it can hold 30,000 L.I., each sq m. has a capacity of 0.458 L.I. And if you're on a Homestead region, where the total capacity is 5,000 L.I., you can only get 0.076 L.I./sq m. Then, on top of that, the region owner can decide to apply an L.I. bonus by transferring some L.I. from "common land" to to individual parcels.

Dyna Mole. What would be the formula for mainland? A full mainland region being the same size as an estate but with 22500 LI? I am not good with the maths.
