When replying to an IM when offline using email. A URL and extra information is added to the returned IM received if you simply use "reply". This often confuses the recipient who tries to click on the URL - and the message is noisy in content.

I believe this is a feature (without ability to disable) in gmail, I was looking this up earlier. Detecting and removing this automatically would be nice - even for security as it may include my signature and therefore my real name!
Now, I also believe there is a standard where an email provider is supposed to put three dashes --- before any thread continuation or signature, so it may actually be pretty easy to detect where this begins.

If you open your email when you click on reply there is often a dot dot dot thing or depending on your email provider, whatever all the information is can just be erased by you before you reply, it is just there, it does not have to be resent.
I tested this again to be sure, as it has been a while since I have had to reply this way.
https://gyazo.com/aae29f6545563ba424be834a70eea64c I covered parts in case they actually mean anything. I sent my alt an IM from in world, replied to it from email by removing all the junk. The reply as you can see is without any of it. I did a second test and this time did not remove the junk, and as you can see junk included.
The three dots are just above the send button in the reply section. I hope that helps, and I agree on it confusing people, doing customer service once that way I got accused of having their private information etc.

Sasy Scarborough techinically yes, you can also forward and use the address. But in large volume CSR responses offline, it's painful so the correct action should be a simple reply action without having to edit the messaging below each time, LL side should be able to filter it out on the returning message from email to IM delivery.
I cannot tell you how many responses I get to offline IMs with "the link doesn't work" as people think it's a "thing" to use.
