Just make it optional, I don't think everybody wants it, especially people with thousands of friends.

While I am ok with the idea here of an emoji on my friends list next to a name in my chat window, I would appreciate seeing this stay a completely optional feature if implemented with very clear opt ins & outs & absolutely no annoying spam or buggy way to exploit around it. Second Life is the place for me & my real husband to come & just enjoy our zooby baby, relax, & have our peace & solitude away from life's social & daily requirements. We do not need added stress here in SL. Not all of us are here for the same things or experiences; I personally like to do creative things with ALL of my SL time & very rarely socialize outside of business interactions when necessary or an occasional conversation with a friend via IM to see how they are. I do not like the idea of forced social activities such as this when the few people in my friends lists are only known within SL, are only known as a username or personna & maybe a time zone or continent & have things in their profiles such as "no voice/no real/RP only - no exceptions". My close family outside of SL are lucky if I remember & send a text saying happy birthday & these are people I love & would do anything for. All of us should be allowed to live our SECOND life how we need or want it as long as it harms no one & without forced interactions. Do you your way & I won't complain but let me do me my way too.

Not familiar with the terminology "text bark" but if you mean a notification I would like for it to be an optional setting. A person with enough people on their contact list would constantly have this going off.
If I were to make a suggestion for them to add, maybe a little birthday cake emoji in the nametag and/or to the side of the name on the contact list.

Access to the rez date of an avatar within LSL would be a more general way of tailoring reminders.
It is possible to test within LSL if an avatar key is that of a friend; but not to access the friends list of an avatr - as far as I can see, so maybe performing this function in LSL wouldn't be feasible.
