Shared inventory folders
Hanna Stardust
Sometimes you want to share objects, landmarks, notecards or other things with others (or your alt). I would like to have a shared folder like a "dropbox", I think of it as an extra folder with subfolders in my inventory, like "Inventory" or "Library" folder, for things you share with a certain group. For example, a group can have its own subfolder, or you can have a subfolder that you share with one or more friends.
For copyright reasons, it must follow the same rules as when you give away or sell something: it can only be shared if the owner can give it away (transfer), if it is no copy for the owner, it will disappear when someone else takes it.
For example, a shop can share demos and landmarks in their group's shared folder, or builders can share objects and scripts.

I can see this being really useful for sharing items like LMs or note cards among friends or groups. Maybe also objects that are transferable but it seems like for creators there are better ways to do so.

Thinking about how this might work if your idea took off, you'd have to find a way to organise potentially hundreds of new folders from various groups or informal friends groups in your inventory . Not sure I'd want a massive new complication to the current inventory system. Perhaps for groups it could be made seamless and elective ....
I'd be happy to be shown to be lacking in imagination, how do you envisage this working?

It shouldn't be like sharing an avatar's folders with those who haven't chosen it. It should be that you first create a folder in your "shared folder", then right-click the folder and send an invite to those you want to share it with, and they must accept in order to get the shared folder. Then if you want, you can remove shares, both shared and received.
And you should be able to choose whether (and perhaps who or which) others should be able to put objects in the folders you have shared.
