Stalker Bots

Please do something about these stalker bots like NotAnotherBrendenBotMakeItStop and the Legion of Bonnybelle.
These bots serve no useful purpose, but appear whenever the number of visitors to the regions changes.
Many residents hate these bots and wish they would be banned.
It seems that these bots create behavioral profiles of users
Especially this bot NotAnotherBrendenBotMakeItStop appears very often, sometimes once a day, sometimes 4 times in a row.
What is this?
Banning and reporting does not seem to help, especially on the mainland it does not work and the Lindens do not respond to the request to block bots on the mainland on regions.
Maybe it would help to limit the teleports for bots to 1x per minute, or longer, so that this use becomes pointless?
In addition, the Lindens should also be able to filter illegal accounts not reported as scripted agents if they only teleport around 24/7. Limit their teleport rate too.
sincerely yours

I still believe that scripted agents should not be allowed to teleport independently across the grid, as too many residents feel bothered by this. Furthermore, they are obviously used solely for data collection – here are some examples.
In the first example, you can see in a short Gyazo video what information I can gather about a region using a simple LSL script.
Region-Data: https://gyazo.com/62e5c7c152381ab914d96bbfda18ec43
That bots (scripted agents) are capable of much more, such as purchasing parcels, does not need to be mentioned here.
But that’s not all, as this only concerned the region or parcel.
In the following two Gyazo videos, you can see what information I can gather about avatars using simple and legal LSL functions:
Attachments: https://gyazo.com/9de16f5d8bd04276e08adec4e0d4f6da
However, that’s still not everything. With a scripted radar, I can not only see who is in the region but could also scan each avatar individually using this tool.
As mentioned before, I can easily deduce which avatars are in the same position and how many attachments they are wearing. What they do when they are wearing only a few attachments, such as genitalia, is a matter of interpretation. Cheaters could easily be blackmailed this way.
But that’s still not all. Since bots hop from region to region after a maximum dwell time of 20 seconds, it’s easy for them to create movement profiles of residents that they regularly track across specific regions.
All this data carries a significant stalking potential and opens up a lucrative business model for residents with enough criminal intent.
Just because websites like Bonniebots.com and others don’t make everything publicly available online, it doesn’t mean they aren’t collecting this data and making it available to paying residents.

I set my estates to not allow scripted agents, yet when I go to bonniebots website my sims are still in there with the latest numbers. I resent this sort of tracking. It is an invasion of privacy.

Just curious but have you actually been to their site to see what they do?
I have one bot that mostly stays at home unless it's sim jumping to avoid sim shutdowns.. but I do know a little about them. I have vague plans for it but for the moment it mostly stands inert at the landing point for my home.
A long time ago now I use to make metrics systems for sims that by todays standards would get me banned. I still do put together the occasional system but the things though collect now are a fraction of what they did in the past.
I will admit to being a little suspicious of them at first. So I did a little digging to find out what I could about them... I was a little surprised to find out friend ran on of the bot you might have see (lou) but i have no affilliation with Bonnie bots.
Hope the below calms your fears.
There are things in place that can protect you from bots...
There is a bot that stalks the bots if I were to use your terminology. The Loubot goes around surveying the activities of the other bots to see what it is they are all up to. So there is one good use for bots.. keeping an eye on the other bots and working out what they actually do.
You can find that data here:
As to Bonnie bots. Their website is:
and this is their mission statement:
---
The worst part of Second Life is finding where everyone else is at.
BonnieBots is an attempt to find new ways for residents to connect and navigate their second life. Our goal is to support and promote the Second Life community while encouraging more active participation. We believe the continued success of Second Life lies with the residents.
Information about Second Life should be freely accessible by all. We intend to make previously obscured information available to all residents, enable open use of the information, and expand available toolsets to further content creation.
All information collected and made available is publicly accessible and is not, and never will be, utilized for any monetary gain. We support individual privacy and will never attempt to obtain information not contained within or relevant to Second Life.

The only place I could see someone full name replicated on the site was for the region owner and all that was was a link to their Second Life profile that was on the web. Beyond that they have a list of top surnames. In terms of anything else they provide. A list of the most common attachments which I am guessing for creators is like pure gold market research, and then provide usage statistics for a variety of regions.
I think if they had an nefarious purpose to them they might try to be a little less obvious rather than broadcasting their identity when they enter a sim with the name "Ohnonoanotherbonnybot".

I just can't understand why Linden Research tolerates a few with an army of bots harassing the majority of paying customers.
It really is the case that many people feel harassed by these bots and are therefore reluctant to buy mainland plots. Not only because they have LAGs due to high visibility.
I know exactly what is possible to scan on a region. For example, I can very well imagine what 2 agents do when they are on the same coordinates and carry few attachments or only bodys and Physics & The V.
I don't need to explain what kind of user profiles can be created with data of this kind, but one thing is certain, the bots learn more during a visit than is legally published on the websites.
Is tracking down cheating women/men the next business idea?

When an avatar enters a region, the region freezes for a short time, the same happens with a bot. Is it still TOS compliant if a bot visits the same region every 2 hours?
Objects, scripts, or actions that interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or other systems related to the Service will not be tolerated in any form. You will be held responsible for any actions taken by, or caused by objects or scripts that belong to, you or your account.
On the picture you can see how often NotAnotherBrendenBotMakeItStop entered the same region.

I really dislike bots, i fail to see any usefulness they might have for the community,so far no bot owner managed to supply an accurate description of their full purpose, so i really doubt any opperator´s honesty. bots are banned on sight from my parcel

This is just a recommendation.
Scripted agents should not be allowed to teleport more than once per hour.
Scripted agents that are used to collect grid values and therefore want to teleport faster must be specially authorised by the Lindens. The data collected must be publicly accessible.
Scripted Agents are not allowed to enter a Mainland Region if only one parcel-owner prohibits it. This means that this restriction should be transferred to the Landinfo.
Scripted agents should be recognisable on the mini-map.
Scripted agents should have a hint in their name.
Only active accounts should be allowed to add scripted agent accounts to the main account. This means that a single account as a scripted agent is impossible.
Users who operate a whole army of scripted agents should pay for these accounts. For example, the first bot is free, each additional one costs 10US$ per month.

Can't this be fixed by restricting access to your region(s) for scripted agents?
LykanXEclipse Resident
Vanity Bonetto If the bot(scripted agent) is not checked as one during the register/sign in process for Second Life or in the account dashboard>Scripted Agent Status in the webpage. The scripted agent restriction rule for regions does nothing to these type of accounts.
Sure it's a thin line to differentiate who is a human and who is a bot(scripted agent) some can be persons teleporting to old or exploring outdated SLurls that still point at a site that doesn't exist anymore.

I agree. All of these roaming bots should be done away with. LL should be the one providing all of this data publicly instead of users having to rely on private organization and individuals to provide the super useful information that's provided by these bots.

If any Linden responds to this message asking me to turn off the roaming BonnieBots I will disable them within 24 hours.
