Change Linden Home selection process
tracked
Matthieu Quander
The current process for Linden Homes selections allows for residents to receive the same parcel repeatedly even when there is an ample supply of available homes for the desired theme. This effectively renders the "5 selections per 24-hour" rule moot, and results in a very frustrating house hunting experience for residents.
Please change the process so all available homes are rotated into the active queue on a regular basis.
Thank you.

Last week, I rolled 15 times over 3 days and only got 8 unique (not already rolled) homes. I even rolled another alt a handful of times getting 3 of the same homes rolled by first avatar. Something is definitely wrong with the process.

Another issue with this is it discourages people from trying themes with many houses available (as they'll get the same few again and again). They have better odds with mostly full themes, as the ones dropped by residents will be more random. Which isn't a sensible way for it to work.

If you are not going to have all available houses in the selection pool every day there are ways to make the process more equitable and less frustrating for the user.
- put a hold on any parcel just abandoned so it cannot be offered to same agent again for 24 hurs
or
- if a parcel is abandoned it goes to the back of the queue (however long that queue is) and is not offered first to the next claimant (whoever that might be)
(i have heard rumours of last abandoned offered first to next claimant... If this really is the case doing this pretty much ensures that if a parcel is claimed soon after abandoning it by a person, there is a much higher chance of them getting the SAME PARCEL)
ALSO: when you go to claim a parcel there is a pop up in bottom left that tells you either green (good to go) or red "agent has had a house too recently". How about including a time till the next claim will be valid in that pop up ? eg 24 hours down to <1 hour

Hello, and thank you for your feature request regarding the Linden Home selection process. This issue has been brought up in the past and will be set to tracked. We understand the frustration of receiving the same parcel repeatedly and appreciate your detailed suggestions for improvement. While we have no estimate on when this may be implemented, please stay tuned for future updates. Thank you for your continued commitment to Second Life.

The current system does not seem to be very functional. Here is what happened when I recently tried to hunt for a Chalet:
"In under a month, I made 140 claims, trying to keep at least 3-4 hours between them. From these claims, the system gave me 31 unique parcels. I received one place 15 times, two places 13 times each, one place 10 times, and so on. Three parcels appeared only once. Out of these 31 places, only one was slightly interesting to me, but not enough to keep it.
I believe there were over 2600 vacant Chalet homes available the whole time (though I didn’t take exact notes), and I know that among them there were (and still are) several places I would have kept if I had gotten some of them."
Whole story is here:

Last year they were aked in the Labgab if they would raise the selection limit backup to 10 which they said that was a consideration but I can't understand why they haven't cause it would help a lot. I also think another option would be for the website to allow you to "choose a home" and it could show you available lots but while you have your current one, and then upon approval it would simply claim the new one and abandon the previous with confirmation. Mainland works similar as if you try to put a claim in for land you have to wait a week or so to make sure the last owner doesn't put a ticket to reclaim it. but with Belllisseria you could just not allow going back after confirming. some mentioned just being able to claim a home directly via the mailbox but I just want to note that is not a good idea because LL needs to be very careful not allowing ways for users to monitize by selling a lot to someone by offering to abandoned their home for profit as well as not getting messages asking others to take L if they would abandoned to to claim.

Having more claims does not really solve the issue. Sure, you might get a home you like, but the odds are that you would simply get reissued a home that you recently claimed and abandoned. People can already claim a home they want using Premium Plus. The issue that needs solving is the tendency for the normal house claim process to repeatedly issue the same parcels that you recently claimed and abandoned.

Matthieu Quander I agree, it would only maybe help. it would for sure suck just as much to get the same home 10 times vs 5. I like the second part of my idea much better where we could choose a new home, then confirm it and have that time be when the swap takes place. though ideally not having the original home become available right away or say with a short period would be ideal.

The only thing I would ask is that the same home not be offered more than once in a 24hr period. One time, I got the same house 3 times in one day.
Actually one more thing: don't offer the home which the user has just abandoned. At least not the same day. I know that tracking it long term is asking too much, but for 24hrs might be feasible.

Just get rid of the 5 selections limit

Agree, This is a very frustrating issue and should be corrected.
