Connecting Linden Lab with 3,000+ Entertainment Professionals Through ShowBuzz.org
closed

ShowBuzz.org is a non-profit platform created to support Second Life's live entertainment ecosystem.
In under seven months, ShowBuzz.org has connected more than 3,000 entertainment professionals, grown to 2,148+ Discord members, generated 288,977 website visits, and distributed 3,655 professional HUDs to artists, DJs, venue owners, hosts, and event organizers across Second Life.
The entertainment community is one of the most active social ecosystems in Second Life, driving repeat logins, community engagement, destination discovery, and live events every day.
We would love to explore stronger communication between Linden Lab and the entertainment community through initiatives such as:
• Quarterly Linden Q&A sessions
• An entertainment community liaison
• Official announcement sharing
• Entertainment roundtable discussions
Attached is a visual overview of the ShowBuzz.org ecosystem, community reach, and adoption metrics.
This proposal is not about promoting a product. It is about creating a stronger connection between Linden Lab and one of the largest organized entertainment communities in Second Life.

Hello Gabryel! Thank you for your input. However, this appears to be an advertisement for a service hosted outside of Second Life. You may wish to promote via a classified ad or your social media. Hello,
Thank you for reviewing the proposal.
I believe there may have been a misunderstanding regarding its purpose. The proposal was not intended as an advertisement for ShowBuzz.org, nor was I requesting promotion of an external service.
The core request was to explore stronger communication between Linden Lab and the Second Life entertainment community, similar to how Linden Lab engages with creator-focused communities and groups through discussions, Q&A sessions, feedback channels, and ongoing dialogue.
The entertainment community includes venue owners, musicians, DJs, tribute performers, hosts, event organizers, dance troupes, and many other residents who contribute to Second Life’s social ecosystem. The proposal was intended to discuss whether there could be opportunities for greater communication and engagement between Linden Lab and that community.
ShowBuzz.org was referenced only as an example of an existing entertainment network capable of helping facilitate that communication, not as the subject of the request itself.
If the proposal was placed in the wrong category or needs to be rewritten to better reflect that intent, I would be happy to revise it accordingly.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Please listen to a 29 years old live artist from The ChangHigh Sisters of Life, Light & Love, who since day one have performed app 374 LIVE shows. I say LIVE shows and mean aLIVE behind the screen, on the dashboard...moving my avatar, from act to act, together with 3 other LIVE performers. We dont use choreographic multi animation scripts, where all movements from all performers are pre designed/scripted..kind of AI robotic dancing in total control by the predesigned scripts.
We book each show, create stage, program, poster and perform LIVE...which mean if anyone of us make a mistake on stage it can be seen, etc fall from high wire or high hanging rotating trapezes, fail to do the rights clicks on our acrobatic podiums.
Our issues as performers is not the many "soundmakers of various vibrations" but the lack of real understanding by many organizers of how best to facilitate the need of time in advance we have to set up, stage with all tools, all scripted as custommade items at the right position on stage. So many organizers today have absolutely no concept of what REAL LIVE PERFORMING IS in SL. Many thing we can set all equipment up in !one multi fast rezzing, 5 minutes and BOOM we can perform. No way.
Perhaps this message is not in the right forum, but now you all know. We dont worry about " the stream of soundmakers" coming into SL..We are worried about the extreme lack of organizers wisdom, insight as to how "live performers needs to perform live" need true preparation time ahead of show start. In cosmic reality as well as in virtual reality, any work done in a rush, will most properly also be of a low quality and who need that ???.With Life, Light & Love from Yman Juran the initiator of one of SLs oldest and still performing live performing group... The ChangHigh Sisters of Life, Light and Love.

Jeez, more AI stuff. Why is it under land and public works?

Thank you for your comment.
I’m not entirely sure where the AI concern comes from, as this proposal is not about AI, website development, or ShowBuzz.org’s internal implementation.
The purpose of this proposal is simply to explore stronger communication between Linden Lab and the Second Life entertainment community through initiatives such as Q&A sessions, roundtables, and ongoing dialogue with venues, performers, DJs, hosts, and event organizers.
As for the category, I posted it under Land & Public Works because similar community and creator initiatives seeking engagement with Linden Lab have been posted there in the past. If there is a more appropriate category, I would be happy for Linden Lab to move it.
My hope is that the discussion can remain focused on the proposal itself and whether creating stronger communication between Linden Lab and the entertainment community would benefit Second Life as a whole.

Gabryel Nyoki Yet every comment of yours as well as the proposal has the link to your website and looks just like an advertisement, along with many of the comments here. If this platform is going as well as you suggest here, why exactly is it needed to make a stronger connection with LL? To gain unfair advantage over your competitors? To get benefits that others don't? You do realize everything we have in SL beyond the bare land and infrastructure is the result of our own work, right? If your initiative is going well, what do you expect from "stronger connection with LL"?
KalebRavenborn Resident
No, just NO. I actually USE this and even now I hate it. The website changes are crap as it doesn't load like it used to all because they added some lame feature to vote for places or people. While I thought this was a good idea at first I no longer think this is the way forward, there are better more useful ways to connect people. Plus Linden Labs has a policy that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to deal with problems OUTSIDE of SL. For example being trolled on Primfeed is a problem and LL does nothing about it.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I think it's important to separate feedback about ShowBuzz.org from the purpose of this proposal.
This proposal is not asking Linden Lab to endorse ShowBuzz, adopt ShowBuzz, or make decisions about ShowBuzz features. Whether someone loves ShowBuzz, dislikes ShowBuzz, or has suggestions for improving it is a completely separate discussion.
The purpose of this proposal is to explore stronger communication between Linden Lab and the Second Life entertainment community through initiatives such as Q&A sessions, community discussions, and roundtables involving venues, performers, DJs, hosts, and event organizers.
In fact, even residents who dislike ShowBuzz could still benefit from having a direct communication channel between Linden Lab and the entertainment community.
As for ShowBuzz-specific feedback, I always welcome it and continuously work to improve the platform based on community input. However, I hope we can keep this particular discussion focused on the proposal itself and whether stronger communication between Linden Lab and the entertainment community would be beneficial.

I actually only have one irritation regarding this new tool. Everywhere, Gabriel da Silva (Gabryel Nyoki), the initiator, talks about how fair things are and that it is a tool intended for the event and music scene in SL. My question then is why is there always a venue at the top that averages a maximum of 20 music lovers, yet 50 beachgoers down the road determine its score? Is it perhaps a beach tool after all?

Thank you for your feedback, Vico.
I would respectfully point out that this proposal is not intended to be a discussion about ShowBuzz.org itself, its rankings, listings, or individual venues. The purpose of this proposal is to explore stronger communication between Linden Lab and the Second Life entertainment community through initiatives such as Q&A sessions, community discussions, and roundtables involving venues, artists, DJs, hosts, and event organizers.
Regarding your concern, venues in Second Life often serve multiple purposes at the same time. A resident may be listening to the performer, socializing with friends, dancing, exploring the venue, or simply spending time in the community. It is often impossible to objectively determine which visitors are "music listeners" and which are not.
For that reason, ShowBuzz reflects activity taking place on the parcel rather than attempting to classify individual residents by intent. Someone attending a live performance while socializing is still participating in the venue's event and community experience.
No system can perfectly measure why each resident is present, but ShowBuzz aims to present objective activity data as fairly as possible without making subjective judgments about who should or should not be counted.
More importantly, I hope we can keep this discussion focused on the actual proposal. Regardless of anyone's opinion of ShowBuzz, this initiative is about creating a communication bridge between Linden Lab and the broader entertainment community—something that has never formally existed before and could benefit venues, performers, DJs, hosts, event organizers, and residents alike.
I welcome constructive feedback on that goal and hope we can continue moving the conversation in that direction.

Gabryel Nyoki I am in favor of the proposal; I clicked the button as well. I would like LindenLab to get a clear picture, which is why I am posting this here. Perhaps you could answer my question in your group !ShowBuzz!, where I asked it too?

Thank you, Vico. I genuinely appreciate your support for the proposal and for taking the time to vote for it. Our shared goal is to help strengthen the entertainment community in Second Life, so I'm glad we agree on that.
Regarding your question, I did address it in my previous reply here, but I'm happy to discuss it further.
As for the inworld group, group chat can be difficult for support because messages are limited to whoever is online at that moment, and they can easily be missed if someone logs off before seeing them. For that reason, the best place for questions, feedback, or support is our Discord support system.
If you open a #support-ticket in the ShowBuzz Discord, the team and I can review your question properly, provide a detailed response, and make sure it doesn't get lost in chat history.
I appreciate the feedback, and I also appreciate your support for the larger goal of creating stronger communication between Linden Lab and the entertainment community.

ShowBuzz HUD for DJs, artists, and clubs is undoubtedly one of the best ways to discover trending shows, events, and venues! Beyond allowing users to follow their favorite singer, DJ, or club, ShowBuzz serves as a powerful bridge between the audience and the very best entertainment Second Life has to offer—whether it’s live music, DJ sets, or simply discovering exciting new destinations. Linden Lab has everything to gain by building a closer connection with this incredibly powerful tool developed by Gabriel da Silva!
