End Micro Parcel Extortion

I think the land cutting policy should go further. Parcels under 128sqm should not be resellable at all unless they're combined with adjacent land owned by the seller.
Right now micro parcels are still being used to pressure neighbors into paying ridiculous prices, because the land is basically worthless to anyone else except the surrounding owner. If someone ends up with an isolated micro parcel, the choices should be to keep it or abandon it, not use it to pressure neighboring landowners into overpaying for it.
It would help reduce land extortion and discourage abusive land cutting.

Oatmeal Linden So where can we request/petition for policy changes if not on this platform?
Pazako Karu
AlettaMondragon ResidentActually if you read the mainland covenant any parcel under I think 128m is valid to be retaken if a significantly larger adjacent parcel could make use of it. We used this in a dozen reports recently since land was chopped to bits all along the road to our new sim. We did buy a handful of them, because they werent worth the abuse report. Double check the covenant in your area, there's a link about advertising plots.
Gorgeous Aurelia
Oatmeal Linden I have per your suggestion. Thank you, Oatmeal! All I can home for is that policies are enforced.

The minimum tier for land holding is 512m2 for $4/month,
I don't see why anything less than that should dictate over estates dozens of times larger within the same region.

Moo Boo Actually, groups get a little boost to their tier allotment, so sometimes things under 512 could be useful for getting a lil bit more LI to use.

I’m usually not one to leave feedback, but people are being completely ignorant by trying to put an end to this and calling it "extortion." Take the 16sqm Halfmoon Property plots, for example; https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ess/178/38/106 they are everywhere, and they date back to 2007. The same goes for many others, which have been around forever and don't cause any issues. Yet, according to your demands, they should be expropriated too...
Isn't it funny how these micro-parcels are usually by the roadside, which happens to be exactly where most of people choose to buy? Why didn't they buy land in the middle of nowhere surrounded by abandoned land? No, instead they choose to buy right next to these tiny plots, and some of them plant a tree right against them and live they live, while others complain that it's unfair that these parcels even exist. Give me a break!
Trying to change this now is impossible because it would mean expropriating countless long-time landowners. Maybe you guys want even fewer people logging into SL or creating account? Because pushing for bans and restrictions is a great way to kill the user base even more... And Many of them respect their neighbors and have no intention of bothering anyone! SL is going downhill, but not because of these micro-parcels. The real issue is the tier fees that went up a few years ago, especially now when we are already dealing with real-world inflation and many problems and others factors too...
Meanwhile, Linden Lab only gives us bonuses for things most people don't care about. They should lower their prices or offer more land for the same price. Otherwise, abandoned land will keep piling up, and they’ll have to restructure even more continents like they are doing right now.. it’s blindingly obvious how much land is abandoned!
Some people will always be the black sheep of this world and I'm fine with that, because I know that most of them respect people and act fairly. Otherwise, LL would have acted by now, and too many fake reports are being made by frustrated people who want to harm SL even more.

Gubi Darkheart You could still cut them out of larger parcels as you do and you could still use them as ad parcels. The suggestion is about the ability to sell the tiny parcels, that is what we'd like to stop. They couldn't be sold, so in order to be sold, they would have to be merged to at least 128 sq m.

LL pockets funds that should be used to hire more staff...just sayin'.

This is a blight on a lot of Mainland. LL have taken steps to address it but it seems they don't actually enforce their own policies. My best advice would be to aggressively AR perps who do this and follow up with LL on a regular basis. If regular land owners give LL enough grief maybe they will turn to and enforce their own rules.
Moo Boo
Riff Gaffer Mainland was left to rot long ago. They refuse to clean up the porn littering General and Moderate regions, and twice have I had microparcels conveniently bought right by my ownland holdings as if it was an inside job. It literally only exists as a gateway to paying an extra $40 for a private region to be left the fuck alone.

One of my GTFO! hubs is at a road junction, and pretty much the rest of the sim is owned by a couple of HOA Karens who want to dictate how we use our land. This wouldn't be so annoying if they didn't own a strip along one of the roadsides; recently, they terraformed it up to further block the view of the hub. I had to resort to buying parcels down the road to put signs on directing users to the hub's entrance.

Thank you for posting this, I'm glad you liked the idea. :)

This was partly settled a long time ago. Advertising has hight and general appearance limits, LL should consider it abuse
Cuddles Supply
shug Maitland Land cutting already violates the covenant, see "Policy Prohibiting Land-Cutting:" but the practice goes unaddressed. If LL enforced its own rules, and clarified them, pesky issues like these could be handled.
Holocluck Henly
shug Maitland Problem is no one at LL is actively enforcing these rules. Started w/Jack Linden then died with his departure.
Gorgeous Aurelia
Cuddles Supply Agreed, all I want is the land-cutting policy to be enforced.
Wicked Nightfall
Hallelujah!! End this practice and put the violators through the shredder like they did in the olden times!!! This, more than anything, ruins the mainland. The little ads that happen on those spots aren't helping either. Markland is the biggest one who does this - it's like a mainland virus.

What if I tell you that neighbor do not have to pay ?
