Linden Realms part 2: Map texture missing
complete
Azuris Fairelander
During part 2 of the Linden Realms experience (the one in the desert) you get a minimap with the local world map texture while in mouse look. Said map texture doesn't load for quite some time now, it stays a grey area. (See screenshot.)
Can't look into the script used, but I had that issue with one of my own objects recently using https://api.gridsurvey.com/simquery.php. The problem was just the change from http to https. If it's the same here it should be an easy fix.

I have just made the necessary upgrade to the map script in the goggles and have verified with users in the region (LR 185) that it is working properly now.

Hi Azuris Fairelander, I visited the desert-looking LR regions at "LR 182" and "LR 185" with the Second Life Release 7.1.7.8974243247 viewer, but can't reproduce any minimap-rendering issues. If you can reproduce this issue, can you please paste the full text from Help -> 'About Second Life'?
As a side note, gridsurvey.com is not affiliated with Linden Lab - it is a third party site.

Maestro Linden Ok, first some clarification: I was NOT talking about the build-in Mini-Map that shows agents as green or yellow points/arrows. That one is working just fine.
As shown in the initial screenshot, this issue pertains the map shown on the HUD, made by the moles, that's part of the experience. It shows your own position and the position of the hidden magical crate you're supposed to find during that part of the quest as a big red and blue dot respectively. That HUD-element will only be visible when you're actually doing the quest.
If you just visit the region without starting part 2 of the quest you're likely looking at the wrong thing. I also asked a few other residents on-site and they confirmed that the texture is missing for quite some time now.
As for the gridsurvey-site, I'm well aware that it's not official. But the Moles had to either use something similar or a fixed texture to achieve the same result. Or some other fancy trick. If there's a more official source that they've used and that residents can use, I'm all ears.
Here's my version info:

Azuris Fairelander: Thanks, appreciate the clarification that it's an issue with a scripted HUD. Moving this issue to the appropriate board for the LDPW team to investigate.

what is gridsurvey.com ? (checked for a website, nada)
Azuris Fairelander
Bavid Dailey It's an API that gets you world map texture UUID's of a region that you can then put on objects via script. The URL in my initial post lacked any parameters like the region name and what information you want to receive.
Take one of the regions in question for instance (LR 185): If you call https://api.gridsurvey.com/simquery.php?region=LR%20185&item=objects_uuid you will get the UUID '77ec008d-539e-2258-317e-8476980ac1e4'. Putting that onto a cube using the llSetTexture-Function will make the world map texture appear on that cube, see attachment.

Azuris FairelanderThanks for responding. Are there docs somehwere for this? IS it open to all ? And, who does the survey ?
