Make Linden Roads Rezable for Easier Vehicle Recovery
under review
Minuit Ferina
For weeks now, sim crossings on the mainland have gotten worse — they're increasingly unreliable, often resulting in lost vehicles, avatars being unseated, or even full disconnections. While resolving sim crossing issues may take time — if it's even fully possible — one simple and impactful improvement would be to make Linden Roads rez-friendly.
Allowing residents to rez vehicles directly on these roads would make it much easier to recover from failed crossings and continue their journey, without having to search for the nearest rez zone.

Voting this up though I do indeed also agree with other opinions here, especially w.r.t. griefers.
So I have put in a compromise of sorts: Carve out Rez Zones around especially problematic crossings, notably the 4-way (corner) crossings: https://feedback.secondlife.com/ldpw/p/create-rez-zones-around-4-way-region-crossings-on-linden-roads

While this sounds like a good idea at first glance this would be opening a floodgate for greifers/trolls. Ontop of that in order to remain fair you'd also need to be able to do the same on public waterways and railways, likely including some of Bellisaria's. It could theoretically work since the Gulf of Jeogeot is almost completely rez and manages it well enough but at the same just having rez zones dotted about the roads and waterways does a well enough job and limits the locations and land impact a potential trouble maker has to work with. What they could alternatively do is bring the rez zones in these parts up to date with Bellesaria standards since rez zones are more abundant there in many places and some are much easier to find on the map too.

marxman1313 Resident Yes, I think the issue is more "not enough Rez Zones". Along Linden Roads, Rez Zones shouldn't be farther than 2 crossings apart.
Furthermore, in addition to make auto-return very short (let's make it 2 minutes!), add a thing that, when clicked on,
clears
the Rez Zone of objects without sitters. So if a griefer tries to block a Rez Zone by leaving a big Phys object in there, a simple click removes the blockage. Further addition would be for the "cleaner" thing to declare in local chat, who invoked the cleaner. This prevents a griefer from anonymously operating the "cleaner" remotely to grief people trying to rez vehicles. And one last addition would be to add a rate limiter so the button can only be clicked twice every 5 minutes by the same avatar.marxman1313 Resident
primerib1 Resident A rez zone clearer would be an easy toy for griefers/trolls as well, and while The Blake Sea is nice with a rez zone in every sim one every two sims apart on the mainland may be too much. Again pointing to Bellesaira they have a fairly nice spread of abundant rez zones especially on their roads. Likewise 2 minutes would be too short as often enough when traveling in groups it can take closer to 5 to get everyone in the vehicle and is a mute point as a greifer would only need a few seconds to rez something, hop in your vehicle, etc.

marxman1313 Resident 2 minutes would be enough to rez and move the vehicle out of the rez spot using Edit. When it's out of the rez spot, you can take your sweet time debating who sits where 😄
The Rez Zone "cleaning object" can be coded in such a way that a "key" is needed to trigger the cleaning. If the script inside the clearer object is "No Mod" griefers cannot grab that "key" so they cannot trigger the cleaning. The cleaning object can also detect location of the one invoking the cleaning, and refuses to clean if the trigger is, say, more than 10 meters from the object and/or not standing in the Rez Zone.
And finally, nothing can prevent griefers sitting in your vehicle except if you've locked the vehicle first. But that's totally an issue separate from protecting the Rez Zone, so I am not sure why you mention that.

Allow premium members to rez on linden land

Rizzy Khaos This is a good idea, actually. Or at least, on Linden Land with "Premium allowed to rez here" flag. Griefers don't usually have premium accounts, and if they do have premium accounts, they are less likely to misuse that because they'll lose money ... and griefers usually want to grief without monetary cost.

If you are a premmie n you use your account to grief n crash sims, you lose it.
If it was an accident, theres live chat for us.

I've had an idea stewing for a while called "add to sit" this could be a land toggle and where enabled you could say grab a car or bike from inventory and choose "add to sit" and it would rez under your then seated avatar. i don't know the technical aspect, but it would be great to get your vehicle back during a loss or perhaps add a couple walker for events. and since rez doesn't need to be active for it to work there would be no worry of it being abused. and of course unlike attatchable vehicles, this would keep the function the same as any rezzed vehicle for passengers and the like.

Maybe rezzable with a 5 minute return time ?
I can see where it would be useful to have that, but I'm also envisioning the delight of people who enjoy building walls, littering, impeding traffic and playing with large glowing, spinning, and noisy objects...
I'd happily vote for more and larger rez zones on the roads, and rez areas next to roads. Might be a good use for those 16 and 32 abandoned parcels.

Joketsu SommerfeldRoads already are supposed to have 5 or 10 minute return times. Through error, some don't, but a ticket will get that fixed.

Roads, yes. But when you hit a bad crossing, and go wheels over windscreen into ban lines, or a no object parcel that isn’t going to help you.
In some places it could be several regions before you can find a rez zone.
If you’re traveling with a group, that can disrupt your whole outing

Joketsu Sommerfeld I was only pointing out that it was not a change to make the return time for roads 5 or 10 minutes. It seems obvious that with such return times, there's no good reason to not give everyone the ability to rez on them. It would help you plenty if you could just rez another copy of the vehicle on the road and be on your way.

Hello Minuit! Thank you for this suggestion. As time permits around other projects, we can review the availability of rez zones throughout the mainland road and waterway systems, to update areas without nearby rezzable parcels.
Unfortunately, we are unable to open build for an entire passage, as this may have a negative impact on resident-owned parcels in the area.
Keep an eye on this space for any updates!

Oatmeal Linden How would making all public roads and waterways rez zones have a negative impact on anyone if there was 5 minute return?
Rizzy Khaos
Oatmeal Linden as i suggested before. If not just keep it as is but allow premium users to rez anywhere that is linden owned (with 5 mins return) this would also help veterans show off cool stuff to new people at welcome hubs.
If anyones worried about griefers just ban them as long as theres evidence of them prim littering/spamming without a refund to of their subscription.
Premium users would then rez things responsibly.
