Not enough rez spots on Heterocera's roads.

On Heteroceran roads, its possible to go 3 - 4 sims without seeing a rez spot on the road.
I suggest giving the roads there as much love as the Satorian roads and adding more rez spots on the roads (one per sim preferably) to make it more enjoyable for casual drivers who are just visiting our home continent.

Hello Rizzy! Thanks for the suggestion! We'll review it and update here as soon as possible!

More actual rezzing areas -- plenty of abandoned land to use, Lindens! -- and end the pod car spam. I have measured them for weeks and they are essentially 100% riderless, with most drivers opting to use their own cars.
Ikaros Alpha
Prokofy Neva We still love to be able to 'hop into the next empty pod' after jumping out at interesting places and looking around. That's the whole idea of a continuous service. More rezzing spots are welcome ofcourse.
Prokofy Neva
Ikaros AlphaThis is a very deepset fallacy that a few people boosting this spam for ages have, I get that. The reality is, you don't "hop in". They come variously every 4 minutes at 4-corners or every 15 minutes so you have a chance of just sitting for 15 minutes at least if not more. THEY ARE 100% RIDERLESS. That means this illusion a few people like you about the "we" that you think you represent of "hopping in" and "exploring" is deeply, deeply misplaced. You just don't want to part with this concept of infrastructure completism in your favour. But you don't live here. We do. We deal with these spam cars all day, every day and there are dozens of authors of them, not just the "good one" the Lindens love especially -- who is riderless 100% too. You explored the Mainland 'that one time" and you have a fond memory of it, I get it. But the rest of us LIVE HERE and don't need it as we have our own cars, either as freebies, or for sale, or our own horses, etc. etc.
The most beloved pods have not chanced their bodies in over a decade and are often not in theme. You get green buses in the air and water and the same ugly half-egg shells and ugly old wooden boats everywhere. I get it that you want to see this from your perspective and no other.
But I am measuring them and have for weeks, as have others
. In any other setting in SL they'd be called "spam". The solution is to have them rez on demand as stations at Linden rezzing areas.
In case anyone thinks that the scripts measuring them, of which I have multiple types, are somehow "faulty" or "imperfect," they have been backed up by enormous amounts of time with human eyeballs also watching them.
They are riderless.
They are empty.
Buses in Satori -- 100% empty for weeks.
Pod eggs in Heterocera -- 100% empty for weeks.
In fact nearly 80% of the traffic on SL highways is EMPY and RIDERLESS and only 20% or so have real people riding their person vehicles. If someone doubts this, let them measure it themselves.
Garnet Psaltery
Prokofy Neva I can see that you've put a lot of time and effort into measuring these rides. I'm not sure what your results are saying though. If 20% of vehicles are being used then that's not 100%, which means some people are finding them useful. To be fair you'd need to run tests for a longer period as people have different rates of activity over a year.
I'd be happy to see updated pods, and rez on demand seems sensible, provided that there is one for every region, with signposts along the way. I'm just wondering how many other people hate the pods as much as you do.
Prokofy Neva
Garnet Psaltery No, you didn't understand. 100% of the
automatic pod vehicles
are empty. It's extremely rare that anyone ever jumps into them as imagined. But out of ALL TRAFFIC, including real avatars in their own vehicles, only 20% of ALL TRAFFIC is real and 80% of the REST OF TRAFFIC is PODS which are all empty. I have tried multiple locations measuring everything in various ways, adjusting the scripts in various ways. Eventually when I have more data and I'm satisfied with how the scripts are working I will publish them. But honestly, it's not rocket science. Anyone can do this who is a scripter or who has a rudimentary knowledge of scripting and get Claude or chatGPT to generae it for you. There is no need to have a pod rezzing station on every single region. This is a type of transportaton that is essentially 100% empty
, Garnet. Its operators know that and aren't telling you
. The Lindens know that and aren't telling you
because this freakish belief in "exploration" and "jumping on a pod* persists when in fact nobody does it.There is no objective need whatsoever for every single sim to have a pod rezzer. There could be
more
rezzing stations, SHOWN ON THE MAP the way infohubs or land for sale is, and you open the map and teleport there. I reject the pods because they are a lie. I can see with my own eyes that no one uses them; now it has surprised even me to see that it is as much as 100% in many locations and close to that everywhere. That a small minority of vehicles have real people in them and were purchased or received as freebies and piloted by them. That's why there is no objective need for all this frenzied conveyor belt of spam. You can have rezzing stations every few sims and that will be more than enough. I would put them just at cross roads and high traffic areas myself to reduce script load on sims althogh yeah, I get it and have heard this a billion times, that their script load is not heavy. They do crash and do annoy people at times and often pile up at sim seams but that is not even the issue. The issue is they are unnecesary, unused, but people cling to them as if they are the chariots of the gods.
Ikaros Alpha
Prokofy Neva Your point of view sounds to me like: "I don't like it. So it should disappear for anyone else." Like Cato in the senate of Rome, you hack other people's threads to add this "point" of yours.
The script you often mention can only work with sensors. Any idea how much lag sensors cause the grid?
Prokofy Neva
Ikaros Alpha Funny how you'd accept "I don't like it/so it should disappear" as "block stores I hate" but you can't accept the objective measurement of riderless spam vehicles -- and accuse me of some emotional "hacking". I am backing up this proposal because it is an alternative to spam cars. This is a legitimate and needed context and comment.
The scripts I had generated DO NOT lag sims. I have XOPH and other script radars and sensors; I measure them. I look at sim measurements and performance; this isn't the rocket science some of you imagine and I have done this for years.
The chief critique of vehicle sensor scripts determining passenger status is that LSL does not have this literal function per se. So some people with their 0/1 literalism then reject the very idea of any attempt to measure this phenomenon. So what? It can describe the avatar in close proximity with the vehicle, they both have UUIDs, their velocity can be calculated and monitored and you can determine whether a vehicle has a passenger, pure and simple. A cat crossing the road accidentally -- it will usually autoreturn long before on a Linden road --
might
put in a false positive but pretty much this does not happen as I have found over thousands of records of vehicles over many days. It is the edge case beloved by office hour regulars and rejected by landlords trying to make nice sims, that's all there is to it.If you watch with your eyes and count with a paper and pencil, as the script is working, you see it is 1:1 matching. This isn't the imprecision nerds imagine once you collect enough of the data about all the kinds of spam vehicles.
The sensor scripts are not laggy or disruptive; they do not encroach on the road; they can calculate across a distance; it's not the big deal naysayers devoted to infrastructural obsessions imagine. It's pretty plain and simple. Go and do it and you'll see if you are sincere and honest.
Ikaros Alpha
Prokofy Neva You drag in yet another subject, ofcourse. I never said I want to be block store I
hate
(there are none). For practical reasons I want to blacklist certain stores for showing up in my results. One of them being that the owner may be dead while there is no support left.Ikaros Alpha
Prokofy Neva Ofcourse you have to drag in yet another subject. If I want to be able to blacklist certain stores from search results (owner dead, copybot store, been treated in a rude way by owner, etc.) that won't affect any other users but me.
I like that I can take another Yava pod every 10 minutes on many routes but there are some where I have to wait for half an hour always. Your "4 minute interval" is not about pods going the same routes, but about overlapping ones.
Prokofy Neva
Ikaros Alpha No, they are related. And "blacklisting certain stores for showing up in my results"
is indeed
"block stores I hate". Because YOUR notion of "certain stores" is subjective and not universal and does not apply whatsoever. You do, realize that, right? There is no universal consensus about this. All you have to do is look at the forums commentariat when the Lindens announced something that certainly seemed rational on the face of it -- "Let's remove RL dead people's content if it didn't have a sale for a year" and all of a sudden people were screaching and mourning that they needed to get, oh, Siggy Romulus' beach house they failed to get as a freebie in 2007. And the Lindens are not even DELETING the store but just de-listing it -- if a legal heir showed up and re-upped the page -- all they have to do is log in! -- they'd put it back up.Prokofy Neva

. You do realize that if pod routes are overlapping and are at a crossroads appearing every 4 minutes, you don't have to ask it if it is ok to jump in because you didn't wait 15 minutes, and ride it in whatever direction, right. Because you love to "explore". I have seen pods that seemingly run "water routes" and then suddenly jump unrealistically on to a road route because they don't care about verisimilitude even if you do, wishing to feel that you are doing a "hop on/hop off" NYC tram or bus and being a tourist.Except in RL, the tourist hop on/hop off doesn't endlessly spam all day, driverless and also PS riderless nearly all the time, cluttering the view and traffic. Except in RL, the tourist hop on/hop off "rezzes" at one area near the train station/subway station so that people can select it as they emerge. Except in RL, there is a limit placed on its spam or riderless/driverless capacities, even in the future in Musklandia because...it costs money. Either gas or electricity. So there is a natural limit placed on its conveyor-belt like Lucy in the Chocolate Factory.
People want verisimilitude -- until they don't. Let's have it rationally all the way, says I. Let's be honest, put in more rez areas for real people with their real cars they like to show off -- good! And put the pods there too for those so enamored with them.
The problem is if you live and work near those 4 corners you are deluged with spam insanity 24/7. Yava is 15 minutes in some places, 10 in others unless it gets stuck at a region crossing but, here's how it works, to cite one area measuring them. One person only rode them in more than a week. They are riderless, like the other spam cars. You can put them at rezzing stations on demand, marked o the map, and the tiny, tiny percentage of the population that appears larger than it is on Canny or office hours can ride them by TPing from the map. But they won't. Because this is one of those artificial academic discussions in which reality is not allowed to penetrate through the thicket of coded virtuality.

Prokofy Neva I wouldnt be opposed to these vehicles being spammed if there was a purpose to them, taking people from one infohub to the next, stopping at interesting sights along the roads. Sure.
But as is, they're pretty dang pointless... and random as to where they go.
Like I said... if LL revived voice to infohubs, let people who just wanna come to SL to just chat with randos without getting balls deep into the whole weird RP thing and not be treated like newbies at "newbie welcome hubs" and these pods come around those infohubs, it might pick up passengers who will then realize SL is a lot bigger than just a couple of sims they just TP in and out of and consider getting themselves a proper personal vehicle (the ones not powered by ACS scripts).
Then I can see a point to having these things around.
Saz Ninetails
Prokofy Neva We know you hate the pods and any other driverless vehicles but some of us love them. There are pod rider groups. YOU may not need the pods but many of us love exploring and being able to admire the scenery and not end up in a ditch.
Saz Ninetails
Prokofy Neva extremely rare is not 100% unused though. Again you dont like them but that is YOUR opinion and you dont speak for others.
