Ridgewood Enclave Commercial - Unused spaces
complete

Given the popularity but also the typical churn of additions like these i think it would be useful to allow people to submit a request for unused (but claimed) spots in the commercial districts.
I understand currently it is all very new so this is not an immediate suggestion, but having some way, in a few weeks / months time to be able to stake a claim to a store that has not been utilised after being claimed would also help active people who are really interested in sharing their creations in these spots to gain the ability to do so, that were previously unable to.
Perhaps a system similar to the method used for being able to have abandoned land portioned off to claim?

Can someone please post a picture of the Available Sign on a building so that we know what to look for. Also, There are a number of Commercial buildings being occupied but are either empty or have nothing for sale. One was claimed March 30, and one was claimed March 17, and others April 1 and 2. Does the person owning them have to abandon, or is Linden Labs able to abandon them and offer them 'available' again? I thought there were rules that said the business must be in operation within 7 days of being claimed? There are just so many things not very clear.

Also - why has this been marked complete?

Totally agree - the current "system" is chaotic at best and open to abuse at worst (aware sometimes scripted bots manage to click the available signs within nanoseconds etc)

I think we should be able to put a request in for a store. I spent 2 days searching 22 sims for a store and found not ONE available store. One store was claimed but not in use after 7 days and then the next day it was owned by someone different. Presently searching for the 3rd day now. If there are none available and the rules o the 7 days to set up the store is not enforced, then there is no reason to waste any more time looking. All we can hope is that more sims open up for Commercial Stores.

Hello Bondagegirl! Thanks for the suggestion! These parcels are self-assigned, using the "Available" sign on the store front. It is best to stand within the parcel to claim it when it becomes available.
We have just updated the covenant for the Linden Homes Commercial regions, which you may find in the About Land panel for any parcel on the region. This update addresses your concern about empty stores.
If you discover an issue on your own store parcel, please file a bug report here, or use a support ticket in the Land&Region > Linden Home category to let us know.
If you believe that a violation of the covenant has occurred, please take the time to file an abuse report for the issue, with as much specific detail as possible.
If you have any ideas for improving this program, we would love to hear it!
Thanks!

Oatmeal Linden per comment above, the current approach of encouraging people to linger around the store and see who "wins" by clicking available the second it comes up is not helpful. Wastes peoples time and can encourage bad behaviour

I think Belli shop owners should have 30 days after April 1st to put something for sale in their shop. They can still add, remove and change things later.

I believe charging tier for commercial parcels (as Patch implied when announcing these at SL22B) would help alleviate this problem. Also, an option of smaller parcels (512s or 256s) would help.

Also a reminder, those initial stores went down for a while, that put things into a spin set up wise.
That said, a store should be in use as it's own entity.
Any post 3 months still unused should be recycled back for use.
If in 3 months nothing appeared, that is more than a grace period to have set up.
Additionally the volunteer Bellisseria support Mentors for Bellisseria should be utilised for the checks. Several were highly abused having been caught on the hop unaware commercial activity was now active in the Ridgewoods.
Those Bellisseria Mentors have been for very beneficial to new and old residents getting into membership plans and a home in Bellisseria. LL should at least utilise them more.

Pepsi Pixels What is a "volunteer support mentor"?
Pepsi Pixels
Timothy McGregor volunteer Bellisseria mentors, Bellisseria Help Group is one you will find them in, they are trained volunteers by Mini Mole (I think that's the right Mole) and also belong to a group named 'Bellisseria Mentors' group. You can find them at the Bellisseria welcome hub, Linden Home demo areas or the Bellisseria home sandbox, tags over their heads. They can advise & help guide through membership plans, home themes etc. If you get lucky find one that will take you around Bellisseria to see the different regions & if very lucky, one or two that will help you out decor wise until you have enough to do it yourself. Ideal for new residents or any setting up home for a first time.
Using these volunteers would be beneficial as they are there for Bellisseria.

Pepsi Pixels Thanks. I'm opposed to employing non-lindens for any sort of enforcement duties.
Pepsi Pixels
Timothy McGregor as I said volunteer Bellisseria mentors, to do the checks, they can report back as they do to their official mentor group and have the Moles/ Lindens confirm and those act if/ when neccessay. Leaves the Moles & Lindens to continue their work building, maintaining etc. These volunteer Bellisseria mentors have no powers other than to report back. That could be utilised as part of their check duties & help. Mini mole runs the official mentorship group.

Sadly, there were instances of several shops being claimed by one person, trying perhaps to "reserve" them for friends. I think that there should be a limit of one shop per person to try to stop such workarounds of the free shop claiming system.
Also, I would ask LL to please consider that full-time merchants really don't have the time to stand around in front of a shop which has been abandoned (and may become available at any time!) because they need to work.
While standing around waiting for an abandoned shop to become available, I was also subjected to verbal abuse, including threats of bad MP reviews if I didn't leave and let the friend of the person who had abandoned the shop claim the abandoned shop.
I'd like to suggest a registration system, such as the one for the free booths at LL Shop & Hop events, which would enable people to express interest and give details of what kind of items would be on sale at the shop. I believe this would also lead to a good mix of shops and less likelihood of these commercial districts becoming ghost towns which people don't want to visit.
I would also suggest a time limit for setup, again like the system for the Shop & Hop events.

Strongly support this. It’s bad enough in residential areas. I had a traditional and it was like a ghost town because people had claimed all the houses but were not using them. Not the community that LL envisioned I’m sure.
Pepsi Pixels
Boots Shamrock Community is lacking which kind of defeats the purpose of Bellisseria has community hubs, like Merry Mount , The Drunken Mouse etc.
