SLRR underwater tunnel connection between the Heterocera Atoll (Cecropia region) and Bay City (Manyiminya region).

Many years ago, I proposed to Michael Linden, to do a SLRR underwater tunnel connection between the Heterocera Atoll (Cecropia region) and Bay City (Manyiminya region).
At that time, there was none in SL and Michael intended to start a ferry between the 2 regions, to transport trains between the 2 Continents. But he never had time to put into production that ferry, the trains in Mainland have now several cars and by now, we have several BSLRR tunnels in Bellisseria, they are lovely, proving that the idea has "legs to run".
I think it's time to revive the original idea.

the moles are too busy to deal with the railroad enjoy it the way it is

Greetings Abnor Mole.
Thank you very much for the answer and for the decision that is perfectly logical, given the lack of conditions for it to be carried out.
There remains the possibility, although currently remote, of the ferry.
Happy Mole Day.

Thank you everyone for your input.
After much discussion internally over this proposal we have identified three main sticking points we cannot ignore.
- The proposed route does not connect to land that is fully owned by the Lab or the LDPW. Even though the land in question is currently a railroad, without it being owned and designated Protected Land we could not guarantee this will always be the case.
- The terminus points at each location do not lend themselves to connecting to an underwater tunnel, which would require great changes to each for this to happen.... with one very narrow and not being owned or controlled by the LDPW and therefor not subject to modification.
- The route is very long and would also require great amounts of terraforming changes and avoiding very old and historic Linden and LDPW underwater builds.
We agree it would be nice to connect the end points of the railroad in Heterocera with Bay City, but taking these factors into consideration we do not believe an underwater tunnel between these points is currently the answer. Neither is an above water causeway due to the length and disruption to sailing it would incur. Indeed, Michael's original desire for a ferry that runs between them would be better option.... if only there was a way for trains, trolleys, or rail cars to board and utilize one.
We do have underwater tunnels in Bellisseria, yes. But it is important to remember that each of these were purpose built with the surrounding area made with them in mind when they were created. Retrofitting such tunnels in areas where they were never part of the original equation is a significantly more difficult task without enormous disruptions to those surrounding areas. And as we have stated many times, the Lab does not use any sort of "eminent domain" rationale to take land away from residents in good standing for public works projects.
With that in mind we have to regretfully decline to further consider this proposal at this time.

This is a great idea, but if the Moles agree to do this, let's not forget to include the GSLR in this! It would be a big mistake to build a tunnel right next to it and leave it out of the newly created network.
Since the GSLR ends in Mocha, sadly it cannot be used as main line to minimize tunnel building, but the terminus in Purple is on the waterfront, so it could be connected to a tunnel easily. This would add 8 regions with an existing railroad to the network.

Great idea!

Love this !

The proposal, but with a "Bay City circular line":
The Cecropia region with the current SLRR terminus:
The Manyiminya region with the current SLRR terminus:
The Daley Bay region with the current SLRR terminus:

I love this idea too!

It would be an good idea.

Radioactive Rosca would be better if it stopped at the Bay City Airport.

Rizzy Khaos: If you see the Bay City map or visit the location, you'll see that the BC SLRR line has a terminus @ Daley Bay and another @ Manyiminya. If our beloved Moles build a underwater railway tunnel that connects the Atoll line to the Bay City line on this Manyiminya region, the train will then go South after going out of the tunnel and 2 regions later the train passes Bay City Airport.
The tunnel could even have a fork in the Chikepe water region, following one route to the Manyiminya terminus and the other to the Daley Bay terminus, thus creating a true circular route.
In the next photograph, you can see the current terminus of the rail line where I propose connecting it to the future rail tunnel and also the Bay City Airport in the background.
