I'd love to suggest making
The Tapestry of Time
a permanent installation on the Mainland, rather than only making it accessible during the anniversary celebration each year.It's an incredible build that showcases the history and evolution of Second Life through the creativity of its residents. As well as historical exhibits that focus primarily on Linden Lab's development, the Tapestry of Time highlights resident-created content and the time capsules that document how our community has grown over the years. It's a unique celebration of the people who have shaped Second Life.
I think moving it to a Mainland region would have two important benefits:
* It would bring meaningful, high-quality content to Mainland areas that have become quieter over time, encouraging exploration and giving residents another reason to visit.
* It would preserve and showcase the history of resident creativity year-round, emphasizing that Second Life's greatest strength has always been the community and the content its residents create.
The Linden historical exhibits, such as the old building near Da Boom with the Apologetics Museum, are a wonderful reminder of Second Life's early beginnings. The Tapestry of Time complements that history by telling the story of the residents themselves, and it deserves to be experienced throughout the year, not just during the anniversary celebration.

Hello JeZeBeLe! Thank you for the suggestion! The Tapestry of Time includes the SL Birthday Celebration Time Capsules, which like real life time capsules, are meant to be viewed only periodically. A new capsule is added in each year of the celebration, making this build a special destination for the Birthday Celebrations.

I disagree. The Tapestry Of Time is a lightweight "coffee table magazine" version of SL's deep and complex history and is missing a lot of important SL history, covering only includes major developments in the SL Viewer and policies. It also ignores everything about SL before 2003.
There's a much better in-depth SL history museum in the Ritch region, it covers all of Second Life's history from 2002 onwards. It also includes LindenWorld history. Near to the History museum is also a Primitive Museum as well, including many rare and important objects, unlike the Tapestry Of Time.

SarahKB7 Koskinen Maybe that's why I never checked out Tapestry of Time properly? Every time I'm there if I go to the SLB at all, it seems too generic info and I don't stay to read everything. The museums are much better. I stumble upon all kinds of little museums and exhibits, too, sometimes relevant to an event, sometimes just hidden at random places. A proper exhibit with many of the original items is just so much better than a lot of text and some pictures, you can get those from the SL Wiki and other sites, too.
I think it wouldn't be bad to provide Tapestry of Time as a year-round feature, though. It certainly couldn't hurt.
I'd like to see the Winter Wonderland, Isle of View and a few other event locations open through the entire year as well. They left WW open last year, for the whole year. It was great to drop in there in the middle of August for example.
It was also great when they had Isle of View open while they were updating it around Christmas one year, so we could do the swan boat ride and walk around while having a hot chocolate in complete Christmas mood.
There are so many unused LL regions (like the abandoned stadium, venue demos, retired Lindens' test sims, etc) running 24/7/365, these few certainly wouldn't hurt if they were also running and open all the time.

JeZeBeLe Dagger Do you have a specific location in mind as well? I think since they're redesigning and repurposing some abandoned Mainland regions (like New Bloom Mountain and now Star Field Valley as well), they could put it quite anywhere in such an abandoned region if they think it's a good idea. There are many other, currently unused LL regions that could also do much better attached to Mainland continents or Bellisseria than sitting isolated at random spots on the grid where not many people find them.

AlettaMondragon Resident That's exactly why I'm suggesting having this resource available on the mainland. With regions being phased out and redistricted, featuring a regional spotlight can help draw attention to those areas. I don't have a specific location to suggest, but with new developments like the Premium Plus shops on Bellisseria, there's an opportunity to combine residential properties with Linden and Mole-created spotlights.
