Unable to return neighbour's encroaching objects
under review
Andrea Jolbey
Since a few months ago I am unable to return neighbour's encroaching objects which I have always been able to do since 15 years ago.
Even filling an abuse report is competely useless, I am waiting weeks for some griefers huge cubes to be removed and nothing is happening.
This is really frustrating as I am paying for my lands but these griefers or misbehaving neighbours make some of my lands completely useless and I am forced to sell or abandone them, making my renters to run away forever.
Imagine paying a kidney for a waterfront protected property and then all of a sudden that land has 0 value because LL removed this option and ignores completely abuse reports, are you really trying to let run away all the few residents still doing business on this platform?
Come on...

Hello Andrea! we have adjusted the region settings back to allowing parcel owners to return encroaching objects for this region. Please let us know if you are still having an issue?
Maestro Linden
I see
allow_return_encroaching_object=TRUE
on the Guillarme's neighboring regions, and don't see why Guillarme should be set up any differently. Sending this to LDPW since it's a region configuration issue.Dan Linden
Qie Niangao Thank you for that tip! Yes, this region does have allow_return_encroaching_object set to FALSE. I will send this bug to the Server QA team for follow up.

I can maybe help a little here. The region Guillarme is on Bluesteel RC, and there's a longstanding problem with most regions on that RC… see https://feedback.secondlife.com/server-bugs/p/cant-return-encroaching-objects-on-bluesteel-regions including a bunch of detailed analysis by Maestro. To see that it's the same problem on Guillarme, open the Region Debug Console (Ctrl+Shift+backquote) and enter "get allow_return_encroaching_object" to see it's set FALSE.
I imagine when this came up last year everybody assumed Ops would re-normalize all Mainland region settings when default EEP updated to something more PBR-friendly (coincidentally, the default Bluesteel EEP also got b0rked), or maybe when we got 2K terrain textures, but at this point neither seem imminent anymore.

Qie Niangao As far as I know many regions in Corsica, Jeogeot and all of Bellisseria have that flag disabled. It makes very little sense in mainland regions and not much in LH regions either. It is common in Bellisseria that someone rezzes something huge across several home parcels and just leaves it there because why not.
Qie Niangao
AlettaMondragon Resident That's interesting. It's true I mostly hang around Heterocera, Zindra, and some Sansara, and kept bumping into BlueSteel RC regions with that setting, with regions running other server versions unaffected. I know the FALSE setting is fairly common on Estates but didn't expect it elsewhere on Linden continents—least of all Belli.

Qie Niangao Maybe it could also result in returning Linden landscaping items or even the house rezzers in LH regions. Just speculating here, it would be nice if someone from the LDPW could explain why certain regions don't allow returning encroaching objects.
Qie Niangao
AlettaMondragon Resident Belli gets attention so a list of affected regions there would likely get some reaction. Specific to the landscaping and house rezzers, though, there's another setting, allow_return_encroaching_estate_object (note "_estate_") that would "Allow land owners to return an Estate Manager's object that overlaps their land." (If that were set "TRUE" anywhere on Mainland or Belli, much mayhem would ensue!) See https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Region_Debug_Console for more of these mystical incantations.

Qie Niangao Thank you for pointing that out, Qie! In this case I'm really not sure what exactly the point might be. I remembered a weird old case from Ceilostomo where one of the road prims went missing once. Not sure if someone was able to return it or how it ended up missing. This region happens to be on RC BlueSteel now and both flags are FALSE indeed.
I've also just checked some Bellisseria regions: Chippewa Junction, Extraordinary, Rutabaga, Shiawasena Itachi, Punjab Highlands. The last one has several large objects in the air reaching onto at least 3 other LH parcels, so it would be very useful if neighbors could return them. However, all of these regions are on the SLS channel and have both flags set FALSE. So it's safe to say both of these flags are disabled on purpose in LH regions. Whether it is consistent with RC regions as well or just a coincidence or tendency, I don't know.

Hi Andrea.
I see some boxes there owned by keepon1 and kellywiston. Are you trying to remove all those?
What happens when you try to return them? Please attach a screenshot or video if it will help.
Andrea Jolbey
Dan Linden
No not these, these are cubes rezzed by my renters in order to make the other guy return his boxes on our skyland, if I try to return these boxes I get the message "Permission denied on this server" or something like that
Dan Linden
Andrea Jolbey: Next time it happens, please leave a comment with the location of the object so we can investigate.
Thank you!

Look here:
How do you think this is something acceptable?
Why you are not returning these objects to the owner and warn him or ban him?
My renter is giving his land up because of this, I am losing money because of this, do something!
I am not able to return these glowing cubes even if they are completely into my land!
Why abuse reports are completely useless even after weeks?
Why do you allow this?
This is crazy!!!

Andrea Jolbey:
Thank you for the location link.
I assume you are talking about the objects owned by aki.boo?
What is the username of the person trying to return the object?

Dan Linden
Yes it's aki boo, I tried to return them myself but couldn't.
