Non-render mode / text only mode WITH an avatar presence to others inworld

In addition to what is on (including my post that was merged into it) https://feedback.secondlife.com/mobile-public-beta-features/p/mobile-chat I would also like to request an optional mode where you're logged in -with- a presence inworld, where you can do things like teleporting etc, but without loading the 3D view in the app. Basically what you can do if logging in Firestorm in Text Only mode (it's on the Mode dropdown on the login screen). This should use less resources, making it less likely that the app gets shut down by the OS when running as a background process, while one is able to be around for the friends to have a better experience with the visual presence to them. If there's a capability for following (such as many RLV based attachments has as a feature), that's even better (this might work today already, I have not tried it).

I made a request similar to this last year. For me it's about data usage--outside the USA (and maybe Canada) unlimited cell data plans are nonexistent or very expensive. Unless I can start the mobile app in text-only mode, I can never use it in my cellphone. If LL wants to leave that market to Speedlight, that's fine. But if it's part of their mission to have LL apps for everyone, it's really important.

Dana Enyo I do sympathize! For me it's about staying online and present inworld as much as possible, engaging when I want to be and can do so. And choosing whether I am visible to others and then whether I want to see things visually or not. Speedlight let me choose, Lumiya also used to give me a choice whether I got a view or not (but neither of course let me be online without inworld presence, which we are supposed to get with the SL app soon). Your case should be covered soon, that is, online only for chat.
