Maestro Linden Yes, about the "Inventory item preview" feature which allows one to set a thumbnail image on an inventory item or inventory folder, correct?

I use a right click, then ‘Image” on an outfit folder and or in appearances.

(#2 OPTION, never #3 as mentioned above at $10 each)

I have not cleared any cache and worried I might loose hundreds of outfit images if I try that. Why on earth would that be a feature?

Just found outfits made three years ago still with thumbnail images functioning and the ones I made 2 weeks ago have vanished.

I will add my system details later, it is a high powered gaming machine, this is an ipad with the awful mobile app.

AAngel Braveheart: Thanks for the viewer info. That matches the Firestorm build that I'm testing with (but haven't reproduced the bug on yet).

Regarding 'clear cache', the cache in the SL viewer contains a copy of the recently-fetched texture, mesh, and object assets on your hard drive. As new assets are fetched to the cache, older assets are routinely deleted from it so that the total size remains under the "cache size" limit in the viewer settings. The 'clear cache' operation deletes the local copy of the cache from your hard disk, but does not affect the source copies of the data on the asset server. Clearing cache can be helpful if your local copy of the cache is corrupted somehow.

To investigate this issue further, I'd like to look at some folders in your inventory that you have recently added preview images to (with the images still present). I'm hoping to (1) see if the folders' images are set properly on the inventory database and (2) have some sort of reference if these folders lose their images unexpectedly. Could you please give me some example folder names with that set? Any folder should work, as long as you're not planning to intentionally remove its preview image.

I will now make an image for the last one, clear the cache, re-log and see.

Normally the outfit stays, disappears after a few days!

Cleared cache, re-booted.

and re-logging is horribly slow.....

So it is recent images that vanish quickly now.

Series 28 are all there (more than a year old)

eg Maitrya 28th- Scandi LAITY SET. Mini skirt

But series 29 are not eg Maitrya 29th Meva Hanna Coat & Margot Boots

(These pre pre -Larax hence the naming series)

AAngel Braveheart: Thanks for these specifics. I had captured the data from your Outfits folder both last week (2025-10-14) and just now (2025-10-20), and see the following:

This folder hasn't changed between 2025-10-14 and today, has a valid thumbnail reference attached (which I can load in my viewer when I have an LSL script apply the thumbnail texture asset to an object):

This folder didn't exist in your inventory on 2025-10-14 but does today. It also has a valid thumbnail image attached to it, which I can view:

Per the inventory server, these folders existed on 2025-10-14 remained unchanged until today. They don't currently have a thumbnail associated with them:

Finally, this folder existed on both 2025-10-14 and also today, but was updated to a thumbnail image during that time. This change makes sense, given your comments.

As you can see, the results are a bit all over the place. There might 2 issues here:

Issue (1) might pretty involved to try to get a bug repro for, but (2) should be relatively easy to diagnose.

If you try again, are you still unable to view thumbnails on these folders (which _should_ have them, per the inventory server) ?:

If the thumbnails for these outfits still fail to load, could you rez the 'Outfit Thumbnail test' object I've just sent you, and note if the textures appear on that object? The 2 prims are each set to the outfit texture labeled by their floating text. If you can't view the thumbnails on _either_ the inventory folders or on the object, this might be a general asset loading issue.

I have rezzed the object you sent, one outfit is correct the Widow poison outfit. The Heaven dress White shows the wrong outfit, that is a denim jumpsuit in your image! Plus the outfit above it has now lost the image too. It's in this screen shot. https://prnt.sc/sKqAf0iDP4t5

AAngel Braveheart: Oops, the object referenced the wrong thumbnail asset for "X35-LeiMotiv Heaven Dress WHITE - from Edith". I fixed that reference and sent it to you as .

In any case, are you able to see the textures properly on the object but _not_ as preview images in your inventory? I checked the inventory server again, and the images definitely are set on those outfits folders. If you can't see them in your inventory still, I think we have a viewer bug.

Maestro Linden Yes I can see both images as also on the Outfit Thumbnail test object v2. However these is no image for: 'X35-LECASTLE Olsun Long Boots, skimpy top & shorts' Outfit or 'X35-Esther Gown - Blue (POSH)' -nor an few older ones like 'X34-LECASTLE Shawty Jeans Outfit LX' to give an example of failed image previews. Shall I make them and see what happens?

Please go ahead and add thumbnail preview images to your "X35-LECASTLE Olsun Long Boots, skmpy top & shorts Outfit" and "X35-Esther Gown - Blue (POSH)" outfit folders as additional test cases. I see those folders in your inventory, and it looks like they haven't had thumbnail preview images set on them previously (at least not since I first started looking into this issue on the Oct 14).
