Instant messages misdirected to push notification

Recently I keep getting individual instant messages and sometimes even teleport requests sent to the mobile app only, even though the app is not running and I am logged in with a desktop viewer, which is receiving previous and later messages. Missing messages mid-conversation extremely disruptive, in particular when organizing or providing support.

Lachesis Ethereal thanks for these details. I was able to find the messages and get some idea about where things are going wrong.
In case you're curious, it seems that this issue is that the IMs from your friend are generally being routed as though you were offline, even though I can see from the logs that you were definitely online in a particular sim. The offline message routing includes mobile app notifications, and may include offline-IM emails as well.

Maestro Linden Yes, that matches exactly what it looks like from the outside as well. In particular I receive those at the next login.

Hi Lachesis Ethereal thanks for the report. It definitely sounds like a bug that IMs are appearing as notifications from the mobile app when you're actually online with the same avatar on the desktop.
I'm not able to reproduce this myself when I follow your steps to reproduce the issue. I tested on Second Life Server 2025-11-24.19651578074 with the Android app 2025.12.1075 and Second Life Release 7.2.3.19375695301 for desktop mode. Notifications on Android appear when the avatar is
not
online in desktop mode, but don't appear if I send while the same avatar is online on desktop. If you're able to reproduce this, could you try the following?:
- Have a friend (or alt) send your mobile-app avatar a message or two while offline - confirm that SL mobile app notifications appear for their messages
- Login with the desktop viewer
- Have the friend send another message
- If the new message appears as another mobile app notification, note the following:
- Message body (so that we can disambiguate it from the message sent in (1)
- Name of the friend/alt who sent you a message, along with which avatar you used for mobile and desktop logins
- Whether the message incorrectly appearing as an app notification also appeared in your viewer
With this information, we can dig into the server logs to see what went wrong. Thanks for your help!

Maestro Linden Ok I have some update on this. I just received one of those messages on desktop with almost a day delay. Here's the data:
Sender: CourtneyOMoore Resident
Recipient: Lachesis Ethereal
Sent: Saved Mon Feb 02 15:49:08 (I don't know which time zone this is, but I don't think it's SLT. Maybe CET or UTC)
Received: Tue Feb 03 15:45 SLT
Content: Did you get the tp?
Channel: direct IM
And no I did not receive the tp directly preceding that message either.
