We can currently, when needed, blacklist a user in CasperVend vendors Admin.
However, unlike competing vendor systems, the notice sent to the blacklisted user in CasperVend is blunt, that the user has been blacklisted, and the message the blacklisted user receives is hardcoded and unable to be disabled or text edited by the seller.
Even gregarious users might be triggered to anger receiving a "you've been blacklisted" message. And given some of the reasons a seller might blacklist a user, it would benefit all if a seller had a choice in how blunt the user notification text message sent was worded. After all, happy users stay and have a great time and... subscribe. Users feeling aggrieved, or sellers feeling battered by a fixated angry user, could find their perception of "fun" fading rapidly toward leaving and not returning. Seems potentially avoidable, while still communicating effectively, to enable a seller, who knows the specific reason for the blacklist, to carefully edit the wording of the notice sent to the user hoping to avoid backlash either inworld, or at Marketplace. And since Premium Plus subscriptions, there are likely (far) more inworld shops with/adding/transitioning to CasperVend now more than ever.
The existence of competing vendors inworld which already include such a setting to edit or disable vendor messages sent to [blacklisted] users might suggest there is either neutral or positive benefit only to all of us, in offering this seller ability.
Compared to the seller ability to block a user from their Marketplace shop, where in the viewer a seller can edit the text in the message sent to blocked users, it seems there would be no additional real "risk" at adding the same ability to CasperVend, in Admin where sellers currently enter a blacklisted user's name.
Lack of this option tends to make one back away from blacklisting anyone altogether, in order to avoid additional instances of anger or backlash. And why go there.
And using About Land options to enter a user name under the Banned group thereafter shows that name to everyone inworld who looks at that location's About Land info, including that same blacklisted user. That could also be perceived as a reason to anger, and worse because this option names them in public! This is at best no better an option to ban a user while avoiding angry response, than is the current "blacklisted" notice sent to the user.
I am transitioning to and have been very happy with what I see using CasperVend so far. But it is this one scenario and its risks to incite more issues than it solves which now gives me pause.
Please consider changing the text notification that CasperVend currently sends to blacklisted users
from hardcoded text which includes the word "blacklisted",
to a seller-editable text message.
