Friend whose online status is hidden vanishes from friend list on Dashboard instead of showing offline

Several users discovered and pointed this out today on the Forums at https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/533296-dashboard/
When a friend has your "Friend can see when you're online" permission disabled in the viewer (Contacts>Friends), this friend will show offline to you in the viewer as intended, however on the Friends panel on your Dashboard, this friend will not show at all, as if they removed you from friends.
I confirmed this with a test alt after reading the comments in this forum topic.
This is a rather big problem, since this way it can be seen clearly if a friend has hidden their online status from you, comparing your friend list on the Dashboard and in the viewer. Notwithstanding trust issues, this behavior should be consistent and a friend with hidden online status should simply show offline as it used to be.
Repro:
1: Disable "Friend can see when you're online" for your alt in the viewer.
2: Wait 1 minute.
3: Open https://secondlife.com/my with your alt.
4: You will be missing from your alt's friend list entirely on the Dashboard, while you will show offline in the viewer.

Yes nasty bug. Are the 'invisible' persons still visible in groups you have in common with them? (another nasty privacy leak)

Ikaros Alpha Yes, but I believe that's a more complicated problem.
I don't hide my online status, not even from non-friends, so I really don't care if someone sees if I'm online or not.
I do know however that there are people that get very offended if they are ignored constantly, somehow they think if we're on each other's list (which they wanted to be on in the first place) the person they IM with nothing more than a "hi" must not be busy and must reply in a reasonably short time, as if there weren't more important things to do at the time.
So if you simply ignore such a person, they get offended. If you hide your online status from them sometimes, the really clingy ones figure it out.
It's one thing that they can check a group member list or use an alt, but this bug that you vanish from their friend list entirely on the Dashboard renders this feature completely useless and many people probably think they can just hide their status from such people for short times when they don't want to be disturbed, while they actually can't because of this.
