Navigate to any category on the left hand side
Images will be blurry (low resolution) on both mobile and desktop browsers.
This does not affect the actual product pages.

Is it too much to ask that from now on, the Marketplace team dogfoods their own work? We need people who are using the marketplace every single day, on the regular, people who are able to identify pain points that users may experience and don't easily ignore them so that they can be fixed.
I feel like a lot of decisions of late with the marketplace are made with a disconnect from regular users and are made with overarching objectives that many users are not concerned with - one of these being mobile accessibility. I know and understand that it is a massive challenge to make pages accessible to both mobile and desktop devices - but the desktop experience should never suffer in order to improve mobile accessibility.
I don't post this as a person who dislikes change; I just don't think change for change sake is a good idea. The marketplace team has failed repeatedly to weigh the pros and cons of decisions and it's led to disasters such as this. I really think that more needs to be done to buffer us from that in the future.

Dear Lindens. At least, can we please have a
1) some kind of explanation why this change was made;
2) why you can't roll back to the old layout
I think we deserve as much. Thanks.

Elvina Ewing they have been making small changes to the marketplace for quite some time now - but they keep pushing them in ways that do not mesh at all with what's currently live for us to use
desperately wish they'd stop that, get
everything
set up and working well in dev, and then
push it, rather than mismatched piecemealDrau Resident
After looking on mobile, I noticed the biggest changes that has been causing issues on PC is working perfectly there. Even though the pictures are blurry on mobile too, the large images on category pages fit nicely centered and is easily scrollable. Product pages that look so bad with that big white gap next to it, fits beautifully on mobile.
Considering the incentives to get people on mobile this last year, the MP being changed in favor for mobile while ignoring computer users, and the lack of response from LL other than a template response and posts merged, I can only assume this is intentional and focus is on mobile now.
What this means for the future of SL and existing users that made SL what it is today, is anyone's guess.

I am not a fan of MP due to the mess. The images are all over the places on my screen and the fonts are so large. Web developer, I know you tried your best. Give us the preference with the sizes, colors (light/dark), etc... with a very CLEAN simple layout. If it is too hard for you to build? Then ROLL BACK twice.. that layout was fantastic. ♥

Marketplace changes are hard on the eyes
WolfBlackstorm Fairelander
The new updated marketplace is so hard on the eyes now with the pictures so large, stretched and blurring them. Maybe they can be reduced by 50% from what they currently are?
Also removing the number of items when you search for an item that relates to each caterogy is gone making searching so much harder.
Before you would get Apparel (985 Items) that related to your seach now it's nothing.
Please could we get that back?
An option to view marketplace the old way would also be a nice touch.

Marketplace images + missing category counts
RohanaRaven Zerbino
After the recent changes, Marketplace product images in
search
results are showing up stretched, squashed, and blurry. This really hurts how listings look and makes products seem lower quality than they actually are. Also, the total item count for each category is gone. That number was useful for browsing and getting a sense of what’s in a category.
Clear images and visible category counts are basic features and should be restored.

And while you're add it, bring back the quick clickable price ranges. Sure we can type in the specific amounts but being able to click was fast and easy.

Adding on to the pile, with my eye problems I can't even open the marketplace now without getting an instant migraine from the fuzzy images and wonky sizes of.. Everything. I would love to get a post mortem on why exactly this change was made, and how it got out to the wild.

I agree with everyone, I am not sure who made this mistake but this is bad! This literally hurts my eyes as they try and focus on the blurry images.
Attempting to focus on a blurry object can cause eye strain and potentially lead to eye pain. This is because the muscles in your eyes work harder to adjust and try to achieve clear vision, which can lead to fatigue and discomfort.
Eye muscles and focusing:
The muscles in your eyes, particularly the ciliary muscles, are responsible for adjusting the shape of your eye's lens to focus on objects at different distances.
Blurry vision and strain:
When something is blurry, your eyes are constantly trying to adjust and focus, which can strain these muscles.
