Remove the language from the URLs on MP
tracked

When sharing links to items or other pages on MP, you risk changing the language setting for the people who use the link, because the URL includes the language setting. Please remove the language info from the URLs, to keep this from happening.
I consider this a bug rather than a feature request, because of the trouble caused people due to how it currently is.

Allow only special URLs to change language on the websites, MP included

To avoid situations where a link given by others, or accidentally embedded on the SL websites, change the site language for the user, please make it so that a special query is required to change language, and otherwise the language parameters are ignored.
The special query could look like.... https://secondlife.com/my/?SetLang=en-US --- if it's just "lang" then it should be ignored.
I have previously filed this bug, but it's not exactly the same thing: https://feedback.secondlife.com/web-bugs/p/remove-the-language-from-the-urls-on-mp

Funny, some people use MP links to figure out the language of someone and gather more IRL info on them; it’s a privacy disclosure, slight but it is.

Do that or educate users where to locate the language toggle on the page.

Rockridge Constantine educating people is just fine, but why should a link given you by another person, cause your experience on MP to be changed in the first place? It should only take you to the page of interest, not change your settings.

Nyx Onyx if the creator's native language is not English then they may be working on MP in that particular language. This has happened to me a couple of times, I consider that this is the possibility, and then switch to my language to read the MP listing.

Rockridge Constantine that's just fine that people use it in different languages, but why should their language setting affect yours? The language setting is not needed in the URLs. What's of interest is sharing a link to a page on MP. What I want LL to do is to remove the language info from the URLs so that people don't accidentally share it. Extra points for having MP ask you when using a link with language info, if you wish to switch language or remain with your current setting if it deviates from it.
