Allow only 1 event to be posted to SL Events Calendar for the same timeslot at the same venue

A couple of venues in SL use multiple accounts to post entries in SL Events Calendar for the same shows. Example, a club owner might make a post for a show at 10 AM SLT and then post the same event as an alt, resulting in multiple entries for the single event. This is supposed to be against the rules - only one event listing per event - yet this "loophole" exists and gives venues who do this greater visibility and a higher chance at being a featured event. Plug the hole and even the playing field for those who follow the rules

The 15 per day could go, too. A recurring weekly show should count as 1 entry perhaps.

Rowan Amore: This fix would be for any new events created, so anything made in the future will still be there unfortunately.
I followed up with support about this user and they have said they have reached out/address them, but if they had future events they created that broke the rules this new implementation would not retroactively fix this.
I will reach out to support again and see if maybe they can manually adjust this.
But again, this fix is only for NEW events created from now on.

Juniper Linden Let's be honest, if that person pays a lot of money, they are allowed to spoof other venues, their events, and spam the events calendar with these fake events for years, right? That is what is happening here.

AlettaMondragon Resident Seems to be the case. I guarantee I spend more in SL than that place does with everything I do inworld....and others do too, so it's more than just the amount they spend. It's one rule for them and one for everyone else - probably because they have friends in high places

karliekarliekarlie Resident Yes the emphasis is on that they gladly turn a blind eye to it if the abusive person is a "preferred customer". You're right though, it's not guaranteed that anyone who spends a lot of money in SL would be automatically immune to actions when they're abusive. It's pretty inconsistent but the pattern is kinda there, still.

Why do you not go after the venues that do this. I post an event every two hours in events because we have a different DJ. I do 15 per day same account. Many people in my staff cannot afford to pay 50 lindens per event. Remember when it used to be 10 lindens. I post on land I own. I pay premium so I can do this without the 50-linden charge. I never spam events, you will see in my events one every 2 hours and they are all different. this year on SL has been very difficult, now this. My staff counts on me to promote them and their events. Go after the people who spam. Most of us are trying to keep our clubs going and are honest about it. GO AFTER THE PEOPLE WHO ABUSE IT

Hello!
We've implemented a change that should limit events to only one parcel at one time, which we hope will mitigate spamming more than our previous "deduping" logic. We've also reach out to our T&S team to notify them about recurring offenders to reach out to them.
I will keep this ticket open in the mean time and close next week if all seems well.

Juniper Linden, I hope it starts to work soon because for 9/2 they have 16 listings for 6pm, and anywhere between 3-10 for every half-hour after that through the entire evening. Also their listings are still filled with the names of other venues!

I would really like for 'group events' to exist so I can organize events within my group. Global events have their use, but most of the time I would want to run an event it would be something for my community.

Tonight, August 23rd--42 entries on the calendar for Foxxies between 6pm and 12pm and they are still using the names of other venues to bring their events up!

This is clearly an unfair use of the events calendar. Surely they understand that this is unfair competition. Linden lab should stop this!

Should be one post, for the event, not a thousand. Stopped looking at Events after seeing so many of the same event

For years, I’ve loved posting events and connecting with our amazing community. To make the event feed even better and fairer for all creators, I’d love to propose a quick upgrade to the website's listing system. Right now, some venues use multiple accounts to post the same event multiple times, which quickly pushes everyone else's listings down the queue. While it’s great to see venues so excited about their events, a small tweak to the Linden Lab coding could easily prevent these duplicates from crowding out other creators! Linden Lab, you guys are always improving our experience—could you look into a system update that keeps the event board fair, balanced, and diverse for every single event? Thanks
