Currently, MP postings are for a single version of a product. When a creator has, for instance, color variations of the same product, this results in the same item appearing numerous times in the search results. This is tedious for the user to have to wade through an item that they have already decided they are not interested in sprinkled through out the search results. Similarly, demo versions also duplicate on the search results.
I propose that the creators are given the ability to create child products. Only the parent version would show up in search, but once the user has clicked on the product listing, it would then show the different color variations and have a separate button to get the demo version if one exists.
After this feature is implemented, a suitable time should be given to creators to clean up their listings before implementing a rule on "no duplicate postings based on color/style variations".

Prior to the acquisition of what is now the Second Life marketplace this was a planned feature to be added by the residents that ran it. After the acquisition Linden Lab had stated this was still a planned feature and would be added, but years later it still has not been implemented.
This is one place where criticism of Linden Lab and their management of the marketplace is fully warranted as there is really no excuse for this not to have already been implemented as promised after the acquisition. This feature request should never have been needed as this functionality should have been one of the priorities to be added either before or shortly after the acquisition.
TL;DR: This feature is long past due and needs to be a top-level priority.

This was solved more than a decade ago in every online retailer, and as a 30 year UX design veteran, it boggles my mind this is missing from the basic MP functionality.
A store owner/listing should
never
be allowed to take over an entire page of results just because they have 20+ colour variations of one blouse/pair of shoes, dress etc, for example. Show the clothing item fatpack version in the MP listing, indicate a variety of colours are available in that one listing, and then when clicked on have a simple drop down menu a shopper can select to see the variations and reload the item image to show that one. Associate that image/variation with the buy button and done.
Every other store online works like this and would reduce the clutter on the search results by 90% in certain categories like clothes, shoes, etc.

This is an idea that should have been implemented years ago. Adding a color selection (separate colors, packs or fatpack) and possibly even a model section would be a godsend for navigating the MP.
