PBR attribute for marketplace listings

When mesh came out, marketplace added the ability to state whether a item was "No Mesh", "Partial Mesh", or "100% mesh", as well if it is fitted mesh.
I propose that with the addition of PBR, it is made so we can see if something is using PBR with "No PBR", "Partial PBR", "100% PBR", as well as a flag called "Blinn-phong Fallbacks" (MAYBE? Since some people will be using non-PBR viewers apparently).
This will benefit creators and buyers in the following ways:
- Buyers will know if content is using PBR or blinn-phong.
- Creators will be able to clearly disclaim in a visible, uniform way that something has PBR without fallbacks.
- Buyers who use old viewers will know if content will be compatible with their viewer.
It would be useful if this is a searchable filter too!

Add capability to see if an object has PBR, blinn phong, or both before buying
Opal Velvet
I have so far not been able to find a way to know if an item for sale has both PBR and blinn phong fallback textures if the item description and/or ad images (on marketplace or in-world) do not mention it, and the seller does not answer when asked, without having to buy the item, and if it's modifiable, take it into the edit window and see if it has both types of texturing. I have also tried finding the items at in-world stores and taking them into the edit window, but there is nothing that indicates which types of textures are present. As a sim/parcel/set designer, some of the things I build for require blinn phong fallback textures to be present so those on older/less beefed up PCs can still see the object textures. The inability to confirm the presence of both before buying has become a frequent issue when searching for build items to include in my projects.
So, in situations where an in-world shop has a rezzed version of the item that can be inspected/taken into the edit window, can you guys add a feature to be able to see if the object has both types of texturing? I'm sure it would boost sales for several creators, and it would help folks in my position a lot.
Thanks. :)

This should be a thing in the Developer menu for example in Render Metadata where it should show if the textures applied on a face are PBR, BP or both. As far as I know this doesn't exist yet so it would be important to have it. It could use 3 highlight colors, where one would mean the face is PBR only, another color BP only and the third color would indicate both are applied on the face.

AlettaMondragon Resident I think this is a great idea, and would love to see it happen.

If all the suggestions fail , no demo. the ad doesn't say , Ask the creator . or just do not buy the item. I can't see this as something LL can solve for you.

I provide demos of all my products, and i indicate on both vendors and description the type of meterials, mostly they use both.

just be smart and get the demo first, if no demo steer clear. that is the best rule of thumb.
Loni Onyx
don't need to be able to edit something to know if it has backup textures. buy the demo, try it on in your non pbr viewer, you WILL know.

I make clothes. I put fallback textures on every PBR item where it's possible, and put that information in text and sometimes in the sale photo. I personally think every creator should either be doing fallback textures or at least disclosing what those older-viewer users will see. ("Item will be white in non-PBR viewers.")
I run into avs all the time who can't see PBR; I always encourage them to try a new viewer but sometimes they tell me they have, and they're not going to buy a new PC just for this.

People using older viewers without PBR capabilities make up less than 10% of users. So, while it can be handy for a few people, I don't see it as necessary because, sooner or later, older viewers pre-PBR will be deprecated and blocked. Thankfully, PBR viewers of today are like 3 times faster than those pre-PBR, even if we compare them with the old ALM off. The only "thing" is that it requires a bit more memory. But you can ease this a lot by tweaking a couple of settings.

At least in Firestorm, if you can Edit something then clicking Texture>Blinn-Phong will show you the fallback texture. But a LOT of Demo items don't have Modify permissions. I think every creator should make it clear at the Point of Purchase what non-PBR viewers will see.
Opal Velvet
Dale Irata pretty much no demo items are going to have modify permissions, that would defeat the purpose of being a demo, since folks could just remove or change the demo textures, or attachments if the item can be worn.
I am not able to run 2 viewers at once, as I'm sure many people aren't, so that isn't a workable solution for me.
I agree that all sellers should mention if an item has PBR, blinn phong, or both, but since we cannot consistently rely on them all to do that, there should be a system feature to allow for people to see what an item has, without having to run 2 viewers at once or having to switch back and forth between PBR and non-PBR viewers.

A tick box for PBR
Drake1 Nightfire
Can we get a tick box for PBR items? We have the perms boxes and demos, a check box for PBR would be useful.
Dana Enyo
This has been discussed before. Just Yes/No isn't enough. An item may be partial PBR, or the item may include both PBR and non-PBR versions. Perhaps 4 boxes: No PBR, Partial PBR, 100% PBR, Both ?
