The new viewer log-in splash screen (available with viewer 26.2 onwards) currently places links to the official blog under the Events menu item. This is hardly the most obvious location to find news / updates.

Having such blog posts clearly labelled as such (e.g. in the top bar: "Blogs and RSS Feeds" - see sample image) or listing them on the left bar under the log-in credentials area makes news and updates more immediately accessible to users through the one SL medium they consistently use - the viewer - fostering better and clearer communications flowing out from LL.

Similarly, the inclusion of the SLBN RSS links (as is done by the likes of Firestorm) would be potentially beneficial as a) it help foster the "community" aspect of SL; b) many blogs help highlight the rich diversity of events, activities and destinations within SL and are thus a useful source of information to existing and new users alike.
