REVERSE THE 'ONE & TWO YEAR MARKETPLACE LOGIN' POLICIES!
SarahKB7 Koskinen
Some of the best products sold on Marketplace will be lost forever because of absurd new 'one or two year login' policies. (See: https://community.secondlife.com/news/featured-news/improving-marketplace-search-and-product-discovery-r11329/ )
This is because these creators all have one thing in common; they're deceased in real life. How can someone who passed away maintain their Marketplace account?
These ex-creators, many who have since lost their regions and parcels due to their unfortunate passing, will also have lost their inworld stores. Having a Marketplace store was formerly a guaranteed assurance that these creators goods could be bought, used and enjoyed by future generations. And I imagine that gave former Residents, who were sick, dying and who are now deceased, a sense of continuity and satisfaction that they would live on in Second Life by their products.
One major example of these new policies will be the loss of Second Life's first ever fully meshed sailing yacht, the 'Loonetta 31', a wonderful boat that has been sold and enjoyed by many thousands of sailors in Second Life since it's release in 2012, having gained 82 positive reviews and a 5 star rating.
Sadly, the 'Loonetta 31' creator, Motor Loon passed away in early 2024. Motor Loon's 'Loonetta 31' yacht is still listed on SL Marketplace today: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/MLCC-Loonetta-31/4442444
Motor Loon did have an inworld store at Njordforden, but in early 2025 the store and his parcel vanished. Customers then relied on using Marketplace to buy Motor Loon's wonderful 'Loonetta 31' boat, and the other vehicles he also made.
And soon, customers will no longer be able to, because Motor Loon can't obviously login to maintain his Marketplace store. These one and two year login policies are unnecessary and disrespectful to the memory of Second Life Residents.
The policy is utterly shameful. This is a new low for Linden Lab and Marketplace policies. Please reverse and remove these dreadful, disrespectful and unnecessary policies.
